Lennon – My Beautiful Lyrics 23 years ago
This is possibly one of the greatest examples of how the music is built around the lyrics. Awesome the way this song falls together. The acoustic version available from her website (http://www.lennononline.com) is really good too, but I still like it better plugged in.

Anyway, meaning. I think this song is about her being a mistress to some guy who's getting two women at once. She's pretty much there for one thing and one thing only, to him. She'd hoped to get something more, but it became obvious that it wasn't going to happen, she got tired of "Playing the parts" and left. He was just like "Whatever" to her, but she knows he's still broken over it.

Alice in Chains – Down In A Hole Lyrics 23 years ago
Matthias: Hendrix's suffocation was casued by inhalation of vomit, which would never have happened if he hadn't passed out after a heroin trip. I'd say it's a direct enough link. Still, as said, it sucks majorly. AIC being one of my favorite bands ever, this song hits a nerve. it hit then, it hits now. It's very obviously about heroin, with the knowledge that Layne's digging his own hole to die in with heroin. He knows it, he accepts it, but he doesn't like it. So yeah, this song foreshadowed his death. Anyone who's thinking about using should listen to this song and reconsider. As if it'll happen, but hey, it might.

Chevelle – The Red Lyrics 23 years ago
I was puzzling that chorus for that reason, glad I'm not alone it thinking/knowing it's wrong. But this song is awesome, and Chevelle needs all the press they can get, so it's ALL good. As for the meaning of the song, I think it's about school, not just childhood. Think about it for a second, all the pressures of being singled out by the other kids for being short, fat, a rebel, a skater, a minority, a Catholic, a Satanist, a Wiccan, an anything that's not a white kid of Anglo-Saxon descent about 5'8 or taller with perfect teeth. Classificiations that single people out are evil becuase they piss people off. And that's where "The Red ... filters through." My take on this song is simple.

Chevelle – Closure Lyrics 23 years ago
This is my favorite of the new Chevelle songs, aside from maybe "Don't Fake This" or "The Red." Midix has it down, I think. Just a simple message wrapped in eloquent words: time to move along.

Full Devil Jacket – Love Song Lyrics 23 years ago
First to comment on Full Devil Jacket, yahoo!

The song is about, I think, the singer dealing with someone who he wanted a lot, but as they were together, he found out just how badly they meshed and in the end, he ended up hating the woman and all she stood for. Hence why such a heavy-ass song is called "Love Song."

Flaw – Only The Strong Lyrics 23 years ago
This one is easy, if you think about the lyrics in sections, not as a whole (bad pun, I know). The song is about how the singer keeps all his pain and anguish inside himself, to more or less kill his emotions ("Is this helping, I'm growing weaker each day"). By doing so, he's slowly building himself to be stronger by accepting and dealing with the emotions. Also, he doesn't want anyone to try to take his pain from him, hence why "It's mine, it's pure and as decent as I could make myself." He wants his suffering for himself so he can be strong.

Cold – She Said Lyrics 23 years ago
Saw Cold live and Scooter Ward said this song was about his mother. My guess is that she was a big part of his life, but only later in life. Before then, she was smothering to him. That's what I draw from it.

Nickelback – Leader of Men Lyrics 23 years ago
The four times I've seen them, Chad Kroeger has always prefaced it with: "Here's a little ditty about magic mushrooms." Think about it, "Tell your friends not to THINK outloud? Hello? That is high talk. Then he takes a little trip and envisons a girl, a cliff, and a ring. In the end , it all comes back full circle.

My dad came up with a different meaning, about the tactic or state of being "mushroomed." It's an old Navy term meaning that someone keeps themself in the dark about a topic in order to have plausible deniability. Then the entire song makes sense, if you think about it. I'm not sure which meaning is the right one, but looking at the rest of the lyrics on the CD, I'm more inclined to go with meaning #2.

Dry Kill Logic – PAIN Lyrics 23 years ago
Quite simply, I think Cliff (the singer) is trying to tell someone that they don't have to do anything, their mere presence is enough to keep him going. Like was already said, it's a one way love, but it wasn't always that way.
