Hey, BecauseTYlerKnows acutally made the one of the most intelligent comments I have ever read, regarding underground musicians hitting the pop charts without selling out. And! If people like something, who are you mister ramones guy to tell them that it sucks? They have a different opinion from you, which you should respect, cuz how fucking boring would the world be if everyone liked all the same stuff? It's all good, even though somewhat confusing sometimes, this new punk=pop thingie....but I'm ok with it. |

Well, this is quite obviously the most populat pumpkins song....i remember this from like 2nd grade!
But anyway, "despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage..."
I think that even though he's so frustrated and angry because he's oppressed by rules and laws and society, but the people who are oppressing him just make fun of something he takes so seriously. they're like: aww, how cute, a rebellious angst teen, not like we haven't seen one of those before... |

I think that the person who said it's just a bunch of rhyming words was right...but, wow! that really speaks volumes about billy corgan's talent, if he can take a few random words that rhyme and turn them into a vague and mysterious song with powerful imagery. Also, the pumpkins have never have lyrics that you can literally interpret...this is such an amazing song, with an amazing video.... |

this song makes me feel all nostalgic and teary-eyed....and im not so sure why, but it makes that whole bored suburban teenage life (the one that i live *sigh*) seem slightly glamorous in its ability to foster such...oh, gah! i don't know what I'm talking about...lol. This just makes me think of kinda how my life is. Bored. Stoned. Pseudo-rebellious. Teenage. Suburban. Musical. Everyone can relate. |

If we'll all notice for just a moment that brad wasn't necessarily an alcoholic or a pothead or anything (substance wise) but a junkie, and junkies always feel better with some sort of alien (or chemical) substance coursing through their veins, so they'll do any drug pretty much. Scary, huh? Also, when you think about it, so many amazing artists (namely musicians in the past 30 years) have addictive personalities, and tendancies to abuse drugs. Coincidence? I dunno, but I do know that Brad Nowell was an amazing guy with an amazing voice and an old soul. Peace! |

I know it has to be about the middle east, cuz a reeeeaaalllly long time ago the places out there were all lush jungles, with complex cultures and religions, and all these beautiful things but then it all got turned to a desert, burned by the sun, turned into a region of 3rd world countries...all poverty and disease stricken....and the elders remember when it was beautiful through stories and legends and stuff. |

I think this is a song about what was going on all around in the 70's, and how it made (i think robert plant wrote the lyrics?) him look at himself and question his own identity. After realizing that it's impossible to find yourself in a sea of society's conformity he decided to go someplace secluded and magical to see who he really was, without the pressures of other people and the media distorting his perspective.
The beginning reminds me of New York...like how Central Park was in the late 60's-early 70's... |

Incredible song, Amazing band. Everything about Led Zeppelin is so awesome, and this song is a perfect example...the guitars are complex, the melody is beautiful and the lyrics have discriptive imagery (I can't spell...). |

Wow! I can't believe nobody has commented on this! This song reminds me of when I really liked this guy Mickey and he fucked with my head, played me, and broke my heart. So it always makes me kinda sad when I listen to it, because the song talks about how loving someone a lot is amazing, but how there's also always rain falling on the fire...and that's how I felt. I was in love (lust?) and my fire got rained on. |

I love this song! The very end reminds me of my best friend and I, we never get caught seperately, but once we're together we get into so much trouble....smoking weed, smoking dirty, belly dancing, sneaking out and chillin....all we do is listen to sublime (it's all we can agree on)! |
