This is one of my most favorite Jars of Clay songs ever! To me this song is really about a person excepting Christ. "You're cold that way, And that's why you say, The things that you say, You can't attract, The things that you lack, You're trying in vain" This first verse is really about going through life as an unbeleiver, attacking Christianity, lacking the wholeness that comes with accepting Jesus. The chorus is when "crazy times" come, and there you are crying, and then suddenly realizing that it's gonna take more than that to make things right. "You spiral down, You've broken your crown, You don't feel like a queen, You've seen the proof, But you're still crying wolf, You'll never believe" Faced with cold reality, "you've seen the proof" Christ is real, but you're in denile and you refuse to beleive. "You try to climb a broken ladder, Grip the missing rungs, And fall down, down, down, Seems sometime ago you said, This wouldn't last, And now you sit here crying" The broken ladder is your way of life, which doesn't work, and now your crying because you never thought these hard times would go on so long. "Beside your bed, You feel left for dead, You kneel in the dark..." The moment of truth of course! Accepting Jesus into your heart! This song rocks! I've been listening to Jars since I was a little gryffin, and this "Much Afraid" is definetly my favorite album. There, that's my two cents for ya;) Peace |

| Um.......I just finished reading 3 quarters of all the posts here, but I had to stop cuz it was just WAY too long. I don't have that much to say about the meaning of the song, it's all pretty obvious, and the hair bit has already been explained over and over again in numerous different ways. I don't know what people have been talking about recently, but about that whole MTV crap, I don't get cable (yes, I'm in the dark ages) and I had no idea that that Dashboard was even on MTV! Futhermore, I have never even heard DC on the radio, I guess they just don't play them where I live. I have for the most part introduced myself to Chris's amazing work, after hearing one song that was on some burned CD my sister had. I've downloaded a lot of music since then. I haven't been a fan for that long I guess, but it's not because of some fucking new trend. Dashboard is still pretty unknown in my area.............wow, I guess that means I'm a real fan........harhar;) | |

this song has such a passion to it.........when chris starts screaming I just start screaming with him.......Dashboard is different from anything I've ever heard before............ there are all these stupid songs out there that when you're hurting and tired, they just don't mean anything........it's all blah blah blah everything's the same..........Dashboard is so different!............when I listen to chris's songs they mean something......they're real.........the emotions are real........all of it's just so powerful!......I love Dashboard Confesional! |

The first time I actually read the lyrics to this song I was like "what the hell is this puzzle thing?" but I think I'm starting to understand it now, and the song wouldn't be the same without it. I figure: she broke his heart by leaving.....and now he's trying to put the peices back together....but they're a terribly ruined puzzle and the only person who can put it back together is her..... |

I think it's so strange that when I listen to Dashboard songs it's like I'm listening to a song about my life, or about the lives of the people I love. Get this: The college my sister's boyfriend went to was in the mountains, colder than where my family lives. A lot of the people he went to school with knew my sister and would ask him about her. My sister would send him letters and packages, which helped a lot when it started snowing. He heard "A Plain Morning" and sent the mp3 to my sister, I remember her starting to cry, telling me about it. Oddly enough, he heard, and sent, her the song in March. I will always remember this as their song. |

| This was the second Dashboard song I ever heard, and every time I listen to it I literally weep. There's that sort of quiet discovery in the first line "so this is odd," your world has been ripped apart and nobody cares. You've experienced love for the first time, and it's left you with a broken heart. Now nothing matters anymore, and it's just so hard to go on living. You thought you were invincible, but you're no longer innocent now that you've felt loss. I love this song, it means a lot to me because I know what it feels like.
