Awesome. One of the few songs that actually deserves to be in the top 5. If you don't have Full Collapse, get it, it is an excellent cd. Visit my lyrics if you have time: http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?artist=16461 |

Thank you so much. What do I mean by it? Yikes...It's so hard for me to write out my feelings and when I do, it seems to come out wrong. Would it sound weird if I said I honestly don't know what this song is about? I wrote it at 3am one night... There's this girl that I like a LOT, and we are good friends. I KNOW she doesn't like me. She makes me question everything that I think and it's about just feeling so confused. I know it's bad for me to waste so much time thinking about her and dwelling on it, when I know it's something that will never happen. I WANT to stop liking her. I NEED to stop liking her. And at the same time I don't want either of those because I CAN'T. This song shows the two sides of me fighting for control - my mind and my heart. I'll try to pull away and she'll try to draw closer but when I try to draw near to her, she backs off. The end line can be taken two ways: a) my mind wins and I've given up on her OR b) things get so crazy that I just want to end it all. I'm not sure which I meant at the time but they both fit. "loving to hate, and hating to love" Yeah, I like that. Really I wish you would take this song your own way. If you think it applies to something you're going through, that's great. Like I said, my feelings come out so very wrong on paper (or the computer screen). For a song that I think I was truly honest with my feelings on, check out face value. Thank you for your kind comments, and constructive criticism is always welcome. |

This song is on their cd "Clumsy", which came out in '97, I believe 'Tis a good cd, though I think I like "Spiritual Machines" the best |

I agree with myself...I think best thing about this song for me right now is that it has more comments than screaming infidelities....all chris' songs are great, but that one is just a little overrated http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?artist=16461 - my lyrics...I need you to criticize them and tell me how much they suck |

Right on, OneCrazyGrl....I am sick of labels. I used to be so wrapped up in the whole "I hate preps" thing. Now I realize there is no such thing as preps or punks or emokids or whatever. We are all people, all with different minds and thought processes. Some of us like to "fit in" and wear trendy clothing and such. Some of us could care less what we look like and what others think of us. Haha I just realized this will sound awkward coming from me because of my nick....Well, like I said I USED to be really wrapped up in where I thought I belonged in society and I have had that nick since before I decided that labels are just used to separate. The labels themselves don't separate, the people who believe in them do. A good friend whom I considered a "prep" taught me some important lessons and this was one of which. Thanks, Lindsey |

Chris is very talented whether he's singing emo, punk, or hardcore. I like his voice the best when he's singing emo, though. But his voice pales in comparison to his lyrics. He doesn't like to explain what songs mean because he wants the listener to come up with their own meaning. Anyone who has ever been hurt or in love can relate to his songs. The feeling that comes with listening to his music is...indescribable. It's funny how so many people come on here and say how they felt that chris wrote a particular song "just for me". THAT is why anyone with a heart and is not afraid to show their feelings should listen to DC. That turned more into a comment on chris than this particular song. But this song is probably his best, in my opinion. Has anyone else (mainly asking guys) ever cried listening to his music? |
