| Weezer – El Scorcho Lyrics | 23 years ago |

This is how I interpret it, and someone told me: El Scorcho is a love song about Rivers obsession with a cello-player, who is half Japanese. A friend of both told him she played cello really well, and so her musical talent makes Rivers "weak in the knees." But, obviously, this 1/2 japanese woman doesn't care for him (outright anyway) "I'm the epitome of the Public Enemy" >he's just not cool to her , so he continues, pretty much begging for the chance..nagging, if you will. Then he gets upset by the Greenday concert dig, and reads her diary, and finds out she likes to watch wrestling, and then he realizes (sadly) that she has it for Cio-Cio san, not him. He is depressed over the fact that she doesn't seem to be interested, and that he can't tell her his true feelings, and its sad that he has to sing about it instead. He just wants to talk to her, and says that maybe because of his inability to express his feelings, she is unwilling to admit that she likes him (perhaps he has low self-esteem>he's "not cool") He wants to snap out of it, tell her how he feels, and have her. So in the song, he is trying to convince her that they are "good for each other" i.e (fingernails) she would keep him out of trouble. But, alas, due to their lack of admittance of their love, "stupid dream>can't even look in your eyes" >he feels overwhelmed by her, yet again showing lack of self confidence. Personally, I think the line "I'll bring home the turkey, if you'll bring home the bacon" deals with something along the lines of his life being a joke (money) and hers (cello) isn't. Or perhaps it pertains to something like them both confessing their love. (I'll tell if you tell) Bring it on home.. OR NOT.. so why don't we just ask the guy who wrote it? |
