this is my least favorite song off parade. these lyrics aren't too abstract. its talking about people in general being foolish and letting things take control of their lives. whether it be spirital chaos or being controled by the media, personally i think the line about being lead by our enemies while we kiss their hands is very pwoerful. |

this is my favorite song off Parade. and yes, i hear him say "to smile and walk free". i think its obvious what this song is about... the onyl part i dont understand is who the wolf is. some possibilities...Government, Satan, Hypocrits in teh church, or just stuck up pricks. whoever the wolf is, dan is not happy with him and everyone can probably find a "wolf" in their life to relate this song to. |

the wonderful thing about zao songs is you can take them many different ways. dans songs are usual very personal and the thems arent always universal. MY take on this one is the sea is a metaphor for people, the human race. but teh sea is broken... which means we're all here but we're all different. when the narator in the song is marked to be alone when his eyes are closed he is praying. symbolizing he is a christian. i think after we establish that the song has to do with being in the world but not of the world. teh narator is not pulled by flood or peer pressure of burnt by teh fire, any thign else that hinders him. the crimson pool of blood, to me, seems like the metaphor for Jesus's power. the seperate pieces of sea find rest in the hope of Jesus. as he burns alone, he guides us safly home. |
