VAST – Sunday I'll Be Gone Lyrics | 6 years ago |
You had a great girl that wanted nothing more than you, and now she's gone. |
Rush – Subdivisions Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[GregJ8787:26107] I feel like this one is very obvious: 'Some will sell their dreams for small desires' : Husbands or wives that sacrifice a happy marriage for a one night stand of the legal or 'solicited' variety. Or A person who gives up a promising future for a drug addiction, one high at a time. The part of the song after all is about people from the suburbs, a peaceful place going into the city and being overwhelmed by it |
Aerosmith – Kings And Queens Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[ladycham:26026] The misconception is that everybody had that Cleaver family. That's pretty far from it. Like, I remember learning in a sociology class: some say "Hey, divorce rates were really low in the 50's", but that's because of the societal stigma of it back then. If you count the number of husbands/wives that just walked out on their marriages and didn't divorce, then the rates are equivalent to contemporary ones. The media lies. |
Aerosmith – Kings And Queens Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Steven Tyler played Kingdom Come Deliverance, then he wrote this song. |
Scandroid – Eden Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Anybody following the story of the Scandroid album might know or want to know... This song is kinda like the climax to the story. Red and Aphelion come to find the "Eden" a place where Adam 7k resides. It is a place of beauty for Red (a human) and Aphelion (the android). Now to translate that: He gets his waifu of his laifu. |
Celldweller – Welcome To The End Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[mrsticky005:25918] After being married for so long this sounds so reasonable. A relationship where all intimacy has died out, and here we are... One last exchange before we both walk away from it forever. |
Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn – You're Not Here Lyrics | 6 years ago |
I can't believe I submitted these lyrics 12 years ago and I still have an active account. dubya tee eff. Lol, right? |
Searchlight – Contagious Lyrics | 6 years ago |
while this was on the resident evil soundtrack, if you listen it is apparent this was written in regards to the walking dead comics (not the tv series). it does incorporate themes of other zombie survival series, and is still a beautiful song |
Celldweller – The Last Firstborn Lyrics | 8 years ago |
A friend of mine told me a story about another friend of his that committed suicide in college... He drove his car out to woods in the middle of nowhere, poured gasoline on himself, and lit himself on fire. They found his body apart from his car, leading investigators to believe he regretted his actions and tried to put himself out too late... "The smell of farewell and the gasoline..." It's a story of a "friend of a friend" to me, but to my friend, it's how one of his friends killed himself. And it haunts me. |
Kamelot – Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I was concerned with their new album after Roy Khan left. Especially since I haven't really enjoyed an album of theirs in a long time. Black Halo was their best yet, Ghost Opera was just okay, and Poetry was so meh. But I am really enjoying Silverthorn. Tommy Karevik has brought an amazing vocal sound to the band and they sound so much more energized and inspired with him. |
Inez – Stronger Lyrics | 12 years ago |
When you miss that person that was your everything and the only thing you can do is fear that they're with someone else, wondering if they're that person's everything as well. The longing can sometimes make you stronger, as you learn to live on your own. |
My Darkest Days – Fucked Up Situation Lyrics | 12 years ago |
It is pretty fucked up when somebody can't get 100% fulfillment from someone they love deeply. I mean, you know... |
Beto Cuevas – Vuelvo Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Beto Cuevas has an amazing voice and his years of work with La Ley has definitely given him the strength to stand on his own. I've listened to other Chilean and Mexican modern rock / pop bands, and honestly most of them sound so similar to each other. But Beto Cuevas stands out so well. Pretty simple message in this song. Post relationship, the singer puts himself at the beginning to think about how it all started and how it all went wrong. |
Beto Cuevas – Vuelvo Lyrics | 13 years ago |
English translation: You swore eternity to me and you forgot my reality Now I can no more believe in you is something toxic But erasing you from my mind is harder than living You resigned to the future you killed and revived me Now I can no more believe in you is something toxic But erasing you from my mind is harder than living and I can no longer resist I find myself again in the same place where it all began with my guitar and a tear that dried I find myself again in the same place where it all began with my guitar and a tear that dried You proclaimed rivalry and you found in me hostility Now I can no more believe in you is something toxic but erasing you from my mind is harder than living and I can no longer resist I find myself again in the same place where it all began with my guitar and a tear that dried I find myself again in the same place where it all began with my guitar and a tear that dried I find myself again in the same place where it all began with my guitar and a tear that dried I find myself again in the same place where it all began with my guitar and a tear that dried |
Garth Brooks – Why Ain't I Running Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Just a life of being alone or just bum relationships and then you meet that one girl that changes your opinion of yourself. You're used to being alone and that's what's normal but now you feel so much better with someone else that just loves you completely. But it's not normal, so you ask yourself 'Why ain't I running.' Fear of finally being in love. |
Blue – One Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Rather straightforward message. Love this song though, just a good feeling throughout the whole thing. First time I heard it was at a club in Teda in China, played quite well by some filipino band. Good times. |
Vienna Teng – The Tower Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Along the lines of what's been said, a person that's a friend to everybody but still feels alone at the end of the day. A person that puts on an act, pretending to be perfectly happy with being alone but in solitude wishes for another to connect with. "I need not to need, I've always been the towrer" Saying that she shouldn't want this, she needs to be stronger, but she can't stop wanting it. |
Celldweller – Welcome To The End Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think he's singing about being with a girl that he shouldn't be with. For whatever reason, she's somebody else's girl, she's his bad ex, or it's just him convinced that he can't have a relationship; only now he's being presented with one small moment to be with someone. 'I wish I didn't need you now' he's trying to be without this person but he needs her. 'Welcome to the end' doesn't have to literally mean the end of life, just the end of one kind of life he's living. |
Kamelot – When The Lights Are Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Sounds like this is after Helena has been killed, 'And in death we'll live the love we never had'. He is having a pretty emo moment here thinking about the loss of the woman he loved. |
Vienna Teng – Gravity Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, definitely a song about a couple. Seems to me the singer is saying that this person she loves has affected her so much that she can't be without him despite what people around them are saying about them. But in spite of how she feels, he's turning away from her, and it hurts her. "These are the scars that silence carved on me." |
Snow – Informer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
IIRC, he said on Montel's show, that this was about him being wrongly arrested for the murder of his girlfriend. The song "Murder Love" off the album with the same name is a followup to this song, I believe. Where he realizes that she's gone. Pretty good song. |
Conjure One – Sleep Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't hear a lot of metaphor in this. Sounds like a straight up "I need you here with me tonight" sorta song. Nothing wrong with that. A very awesome and emotive song it is. |
Mates of State – Think Long Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Love this tune. Definitely sounds a little bit about iv drug use, but not entirely sure. |
iiO – Kiss You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The version I heard actually was the "Ambient" mix. Beautiful. |
iiO – Kiss You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Heard this song on XM Chill not too long ago. Amazing. She has such a unique voice that just captivated me. |
Hundred Reasons – How Soon Is Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Actually, I think it's a cover by "Hundred Reasons" |
Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn – Waiting For You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Akira Yamaoka himself said the song was written about James and Maria's relationship in Silent Hill 2. Just because it's on the soundtrack doesn't mean it's about those characters. |
Utada Hikaru – Passion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Uh, what's so bad about the English version? Unless you're one of those japan-freaks that thinks everything sounds better in a language you don't understand. |
The Offspring – The Worst Hangover Ever Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow, ok... There's probably no less than a metric fuckton of musicians that have all wrote songs about getting/being drunk and/or being hungover. Way to be an educated listener there dude. Also, way to not acknowledge that the best music comes from experience. Kids these days. |
Audioslave – We Got The Whip Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Very important to never forget that. |
Jem – 24 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anybody else feel a "Prison Break" connection with this? Especially with all of you talking about exections. It's wild. |
Kamelot – Karma Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hey, me alone again. My brother and I had a discussion about this song. We're both pretty sure that it's about a King who has either betrayed or been betrayed by his closest friends and knows that his final conflict has come. But we both differed on an interpretation of the last verse. "Tired, trembling, I am descending..." I looked at it as the King being wary and afraid to finally face his friends in combat. My brother sees it as tired of their machinations behind his back, and he is trembling with anger, ready to destroy them. |
Jem – 24 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'd also like to mention, something I noticed. There's two sets of lyrics that break the spacing flow of the song. The countdown goes from 18 hours to 13 hours just a verse apart, and from 8 to 1 later on in the song. I think Jem's trying to convey the urgency of fleeting life and how quickly this change is actually coming on. |
Jem – 24 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's about someone who's really screwed up and knows that in the span of a day, it'll all come to a head. I can't really pick any sort of particular horrible thing she may have done but the line "His eyes said it all" makes me think someone told her that somebody knows what she did, and tomorrow she'll have to deal with it. "In 24 hours they’ll be laying flowers on my life, it’s over tonight" I think the line there has a dual meaning. She's dead to someone, not in the literal sense, like an ending friendship. And her life, being over tonight, she's planning on making a grand change. Big enough she won't be the same person. Throughout the song she reiterates the ideal of living life to its fullest. Which makes me think that this is what it's about. Her old self is dying, she's making a huge change, but there's sacrifice to be made in doing it. (Also, I dig the 24/Jack Bauer reference ;) ) |
The Offspring – Bad Habit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Nope, pretty sure it's about driving. A car. |
Cheeky Girls – Take Your Shoes Off Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You know, most people tend to disregard anybody who can't be bothered to spell a single word right. OMGZURGFRUSHNTALKSORS!!!!11111ONEONE!!11! |
Black Sabbath – Time Machine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's more of a metaphor for how in control of your own life you really are. A lot of people blame things that happen in their life, on the fact that they have no control over anything. When really, they're just a bunch of pussies for not taking control. Power comes to those who claim it, and all that. |
DJ Sammy – Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Uh, isn't that Eyra Gail still singing in this version? |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
FYI, America's involvement in the Vietnam war was because France asked for help. Then France bailed. |
Rage Against the Machine – How I Could Just Kill a Man (Cypress Hill cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a rare time when a cover of a song actually exceeds the original. Rage does a really good job of capturing the anger and viciousness of a person who takes joy in poppin' a cap in a busta's ass. I especially love the line "Didn't have to blast him but I did it anyway. Ha, ha, ha, young punk had to pay!" Awesome. I thought "Puto" was rhetoric these days, but I guess not. 'Course, I'm also versed in spanish so maybe I just know it naturally. And it wouldn't make sense for Rage to say "negroes." For God sakes, Zach De La Rocha is Hispanic (Mexican specifically if I recall correctly.) |
Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn – Waiting For You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I like this song, it's a good song about longing for another person. Truth be told, this song is actually about James and Maria's relationship from Silent Hill 2. |
The Offspring – Can't Repeat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Like the name of the song, I think it's about the one true fact of life. You never get a second chance. Everything always moves forward and everything you do is scarred by all you've done before. But there's times where we get so tired and apprehensive about the future we just want to keep ourselves where we are. |
Shakira – La Tortura Lyrics | 19 years ago |
She's a rare treat, a hot female body with a hot female voice that can actually sing. |
Gravity Kills – Guilty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Gravity kills was like the Linkin Park of the early 90's. Nice techno sound, shallow lyrics. |
Stabbing Westward – Sleep Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a really dark song. It helps that Stabbing Westward has a really dark theme to their music to begin with and it helps convey the meaning of this song. Plenty of artists do music about subjects like this, but few can really give it the dark tone it deserves like SW can. And if you doubt that, then go listen to Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay". |
Jessica Simpson – These Boots Are Made For Walkin' Lyrics | 19 years ago |
HA HA, N0 C0DE 79 noticed one of the most important things. ha ha. This is a horrible song, but a really good music video. |
Steely Dan – Hey Nineteen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Unless they know what the song means. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Hand That Feeds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Why is it that every analysis of every song on this site always comes down to Bush and the Iraqi war? |
Madonna – Die Another Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Think James Bond and it really comes together. In my opinion, most of the title songs for 007 movies are about 007 the man. |
Franz Ferdinand – Auf Achse Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Unrecquited love near as I can tell. It's having a crush on someone and them not feeling the same way about you. You want to hold them in your arms and they want nothing to do with you. |
