Is it just me, or does the "hello, how have you been?" sound more like "how long girl has it been?" Anyway great song. |

Heh way to post 3x. Anyway I wanted to add that I think the lyrics in the background of "Can we talk about tomorrow" etc are "some get it, some have to wait a while". |

this song is pretty straightforward. the girl has been hurt too many times in past relationships that even when she's found a guy that she really likes, and he likes her back, she's too afraid to commit to a relationship with him. |

i think this song could be about a girl. it kinda seems like they had a relationship, where they didn't have a lot but they loved eachother, and now she is leaving. as far as why she left, i can't decide what it would be. i want to say it would be maybe another guy who is 'cooler' than he is or has more money or something, and she has a very shallow attraction to him. i also think it could be that she is actually leaving to go far away, to college or something. i think the comparison of the 'monologue' to the well-planned let-down speech is probably accurate. still, the first part doesn't fit very well, and it's not clear what the 'championless' business is all about.
in any case, i don't think there would be any religious undertones here; unless it is about _chris_ leaving the faith (which i doubt). |

This song is weird. I agree with luckye that this probably has something to do with "Summer Wind Was Always Our Song" but it seems pretty dramatic for a break-up song. I'd almost expect that this song was written in response to his girlfriend dying or something. That's not what happened in the other song though... Maybe he uses "Summer Wind" on all his girlfriends? |

First of all, EmoRocks -- you have issues and so does this guy (no, that's a bad thing to have in common).
Second the Ataris rock. I think their lyrics are kinda emo but they don't sound like an emo band (yeah i like emo myself).
Third, I love this song. It's about when you meet that one girl who is so amazingly cooler than any other girl you've met but she's with someone else. It sounds like she's getting married, and this guy knows he can't stop it, but he at least wants to let her know how much she means to him ("every time you hear this song...").
Fourth, no it's not about your friend/ex/admiree who is going out with someone who treats them like shit. I think the third verse/part makes that clear. It's someone that probably loves them as much as the guy does, and he knows it (that's the saddest part). |

mattya19 et al:
the "LOVE" is actually the drawn out 'full' followed by 'of' ie "full-ul-ul of' or something like that. between the drawn out 'full' and the 'of', it does sound like 'full uh love'. but there's no way to explain what he says next except that he says "...buy a bucket fullll of dieiamonds but..." BTW std rocks. |

I can see the thing about a friend on drugs. The last 1/3 of the song talks about how their life has degenerated into a [near] worthless state; as they're constantly escaping reality and pushing themselves toward death ("grenade stuck in your teeth"). I think the crucifixion is not so much to show the friend how beautiful they are (I can't see how killing them would do this), rather to impress upon others (and the narrator) a stronger and more favorable image of the person, instead of them fading out of memory as a drug addict.
It's one thing to read "oh, it was about a friend of mine who was on drugs..." but it's another to understand how the different parts fit in. I don't see why there's a reason to stop examining the lyrics. |

I think this song is about that girl that you like, but you know you shouldn't. She's like a total jerk and she treats you bad but there's just something about her (her good looks, her blue eyes, her innocent act) so that you can't stop thinking about her. |
