| Lucinda Williams – Lake Charles Lyrics

One of my favorite Lucinda songs. Havn't you ever been somewhere that you just felt at home? Lake Charles is not a place most people would pick for that feeling but it makes the song that much more poignant. A comfortable place to be - what a great thing! |

I love this song. Especially the part about Georgia. I used to live there and these lyrics are deadon fo my feeling about the norther part of the state. Also, saw them in Savanna one year and Joan Baez was there with them (unannounced) one of the best concerts ever. |

| Bob Seger – Roll Me Away Lyrics

Sometimes you just have to get away from out frantic lives and feel free and in control. That is what Seger is talking about just getting on his bike and escaping. He found a girl who understood the feeling and wanted to share it, but all good things must come to an end. She lost the lust for freedom and escape and wanted to go home - we all do some times. |

| Elton John – Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters Lyrics
| 23 years ago

Absolutely one of his best!
It seems to me the Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters are the pretty faces and shallow eccentric people born to better fortune. To them life is a party (good morning to the night) and they really can't relate to the average person (...dont know if it's dark outside or light...").
Bernie is saying that they have entered this world (...trash can dreams come true...). The people they encounter can't see the needs (sky) in life and have the big dreams of making their own way. They are too into their own privelege and enjoying it and not caring about people killed in the subway or the hobo who drowns.

Anyone who grew up in a small town, and wondered why anyone would stay, now has an anthem. McMurtry makes a pretty compelling case for a desolate part of west Tx. Great song! |

This is a wonderful song. Too often we don't think of the brown men who work so hard in our country to provide for their families back in Mexico. This song also shows that the great thing about REK is that he write humerous and serious songs equally well. |

I think the song is from a middle aged man's perspective and is a refelection on how great it was to be in his prime physically. At that point in our lives, we did not have the complications we must deal with as we age and take on responsibility. |
