Tomahawk – Flashback Lyrics 23 years ago
"put on the mask and dance for Daddy/wait for the word and say you're sorry"

this is hysterical. in that lovely, twisted way. this entire album has put me in the best mood. I recommend it to all who are open to try a new band. now go have sex.

A Perfect Circle – Over Lyrics 23 years ago
you know that award for “most improved” that teachers give a kid in second grade or so, on the day everyone gets an award because everyone is a beautiful and unique snowflake? this song gets that award. the transformation it allows from the studio version to a live performance is unmatched. I’d like to hear another artist that has mastered the use of the sigh as artistically as maynard has. that’s all you can do when you’ve been over this so many times before. I think this song is a useful segue to the next album. a credit to the cyclic nature of learning, all the while moving forward to heal. let us hope pain allows it.

*sigh*

Tool – Lateralus Lyrics 23 years ago
anyone? any (decent) thoughts on why the lyrics "as below, so above" were chosen? why the transposed gnostic axiom?

"decent" does hereby exclude any opinions including being about a record company, the music industry, or a damn woman.

Radiohead – How to Disappear Completely Lyrics 23 years ago
escape. total escape. you’re breathing, then you question if it’s necessary. from there, your mind becomes susceptible to everything. this song is the closest thing to detachment I have ever felt. the only thing that makes me realize I am still here is the lachrymosity. just that friendly little reminder that there is no full escape. so find comfort in the moment before you realize it’s gone, only then you can acquaint yourself with true loss, and thereafter, true worth. in short, this song is okay.. kind of superficial if you ask me though. but all in all, a nice, happy sound. *grimace*

Tool – Ticks and Leeches Lyrics 23 years ago
I definitely lug this song in with the place of hooker w/a penis, off aenima. neither of those songs are my 'most played tracks,' but they are both very important to the progression of the albums. joseph campbell has his whole "hero's journey" thing where once you reach a point of realization, you look back on what you used to be, where you came from, where so many others seem to dwell and waste away, and you have that moment of frustration and negativety towards the overwhelming complacency and selfishness of people. the plan is to continue to progress YOURSELF despite this external, (hopefully temporarily) inescapable truism. which is what is done with jimmy and lateralus. I think we can all relate to this song no matter how much we may not want to admit it. you just have to do that whole.. rise above.. thing.
