| Audiovent – Stalker Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I think I heard the same interview that Scott did. I remember him saying that a stalker was just a character that fascinated him. And the part where he says "there you are to rape me and try on my clothes" was because Brad Pitt (I think) had a stalker who broke into his house. When they found him he was going through Brad's clothes and trying them on. So basically, it's not based on a personal experience. |

This is my favorite AV song right now. I always think about what I would do if I could go back and change one thing about my life. But of course that's a pointless thing to spend too much time thinking about... The official website is www.audioventonline.com. I'm not sure why ventmusic hasn't changed its name. |

| Audiovent – The Energy Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Just wanted to correct the lyrics that were posted. The third line of the chorus is "Take everything you need" not "...in me." Also, where it's written, "I would never be the kind to not care" it's actually, "I will never be dependent again." Which makes sense with the meaning ArchAngelVanity gave. I bought the CD earlier this week and saw the band live a few days ago (actually, two days in a row) so I'm currently obsessed (obviously!) They're amazing. Go out and buy Dirty Sexy Knights in Paris, or better yet, go see 'em live. |

| Incubus – Calgone Lyrics | 23 years ago |

I love this song. I found the hidden track because I fell asleep with the CD playing and woke up to the most bizarre assortment of music and sounds...tada! What I want to know is what is up with the autopsy report. You know, after the reaming out Gavin bit, at the beginning of the actual hidden track, there's a guy reading off the details of a car crash victim...it sounds like it was pretty damn gnarly, too. |

| Incubus – Warning Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Take it easy, there, Barbie, and get a sense of humor. She obviously doesn't really think it means "Linda is awesome," she was illustrating a point. Deep breaths...okay...moving on. I thought of the Morning View release date the first time I saw the warning video, but I thought it would be kind of narcissitic of them to imply that the world ends after their CD is released, but it's all I could think of. I would not put it past them to make a huge deal out of 10:24 throughout the entire video just to incite discussions like this...and then they can laugh at us. They are most definitely not Christian ("Favorite Things" is about how the church prohibits the things they love) but Brandon is very well-read, so I wouldn't put it past them to have a Biblical reference. As for Rush Limbaugh, well, I'm sure they don't like him too much, and I'm sure if he knew who they were, he wouldn't like them. Just guessin'. But who knows. The cosmic jacuzzi bit...I wondered if maybe when you're making froglegs you boil the frogs alive, like you do with lobsters. So at first it's just a nice relaxing jacuzzi, and the next minute they're dead ("we all float face down.") Don't even know what hit them. Blech. I'm a vegetarian. H201 is the same as H20...the 1 is just implied. I'm just sayin'... theoddfoot...teenagers and teenyboppers aren't the same thing. Teenagers are just people of a certain age. Teenyboppers are the kids who go to the shows because they want to see pretty Brandon with no shirt on but have little or no interest in the music (specifically that which is pre-"Drive.") Have you guys been to an Incubus concert lately? Everyone's free to listen to whatever music, sure, but I'm 20 and I felt old there. |

| Incubus – Nebula Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Wandering off into the nebula represents meditation, or spiritual exploration. Just letting go and then bringing back the thoughts you've gathered and using them to create art. Or maybe you're tripping on acid and that's the nebula. Actually, considering some of Incubus's earlier songs, I did always think this one meant allowing people, specifically artists, to use drugs as a way of going into one's subconcious and using it for creative energy...most likely what the band members did in early songwriting sessions. Did they make up the word "orgasmatron"? And the little black book he confides in...well...I'm not sure quite what to make of that. I didn't like this song too much the first few times I listened to it. Now it's one of my favorites. Mike Einziger is my hero. |

| Incubus – Glass Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Sounds like someone who refuses to accept reality. They won't accept love or criticism, just live in a glass shell, sort of seperated from the world around them. "Oh, did I crack your shell? When it falls away you'll see we exist as well!" Get out of that glass case and join the rest of the world. Learn to empathize. Don't live in a bubble, damn it! |

| Incubus – Clean Lyrics | 23 years ago |

I love this song. It completely describes one of my pet peeves. People will tell you everything's fine and then sit around seething while you don't know what you did wrong. You want them to just lash out and just scream at you so that everything is out in the open, but they just want to sit in silence. "You'd feel better if you'd vent/put your frustrations into four letter words/and let them out on mine, the most weathered ears in town." That's exactly what I've wanted to say to so many different people. Men always gripe that women do this all the time. They ask what's wrong and we say "fine" even when everything is not at all fine. I heard this song and that's what I thought of right away, and so I've promised myself I'll never do that!!! |

| Incubus – 11am Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I mentioned this under another song off Morning View...but...Brandon and his girlfriend (the one he sings about in "Stellar") broke up between Make Yourself and Morning View. This is obviously a break up song (but I don't think anyone's debating that fact.) My interpretation has always been that she broke up with him, but he thinks he did something to make her want to leave him (thus the "heated choices I've made.") He's lying in bed 'til noon, despite waking up at 7, so he's obviously depressed. His telephone is dusty, so he hasn't been talking to her or anyone else recently. And when it rings, he hopes it's her...obviously he wants her back. As for the chorus, I think the "you" is a general you, not one specific person. When no one is there for you and you're all alone, at least you don't have anyone else to worry about. It's like he's making a feeble attempt to be optimistic. I love this song. It's so beautiful but so sad. And being as insensitive as I am, I read the lyrics and thought, "Gee, if he needs a rebound girl..." I'm such a dork. |

| Incubus – Privilege Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
We're all sitting around waiting for something better to come along, but we don't know what or why. The "backdoor" is a way to take control of your own life, don't wait around, get up and find another way in. I can imagine Brandon coming up with the idea to this song while standing in line at the bank, or something equally mundane and seeing it as a metaphor for life. I wish I could make abstract connections like that and then write songs about them. Ah well.... |

| Incubus – Vitamin Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
People are too content living dreary lives. They don't even notice that their lives suck anymore. They're not willing to put forth the effort to change it. To paraphrase azwethinkweiz, it takes a few revolutionaries that no one wants to listen to to open everyone's eyes. Ah, Incubus was so great back when they were young and idealistic and smoked too much pot. They still are great... |

| Incubus – When It Comes Lyrics | 23 years ago |

It's about anti-conformity. People will try to tell you how to think, try to sell you on their own ideals, but all you need is to be able to think for yourself...make yourself, if you will. I love this whole album. |

| Incubus – Under My Umbrella Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Brandon broke up with his girlfriend sometime between Make Yourself and Morning View. If you look at the album in that light it seems like a break up album. Think about it, "These eyes are not the color that your arid eyes might be." Arid eyes to me means that whoever those eyes belong to is completely unemotional at a time when, apparently, the singer's eyes are not dry. "No I was not around when those eyes of yours decided, so I refuse to live before the sights they choose to see." He got dumped and it was not a mutual decision? Normally I wouldn't accuse Incubus of writing songs that deal with their own personal lives. They tend to tackle bigger issues that deal with society and humanity at large. On the other hand, Brandon obviously did dig that chick...he wrote Stellar about her, and just look at those lyrics. Waaay personal (but still a good song.) Either way, "Under My Umbrella" is one of my favorite songs off this album. |
