| Ben Folds – Losing Lisa Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Frankly, I think that the band as a whole [BFF] was really holding back Ben from some of his better work, ala Rocking the Suburbs. If you play piano or have ever seen any riffs from BFF, then you can plainly see that the riffs are simple gimmicks that sound great, tied in with an amazing distorted bass, pumping drum beats, and phenomenal lyrics. This song, along with others [The Ascent of Stan, Fired, The Luckiest, etc.] all show Ben’s true musical talent...amazing song none the less. | |
| Ben Folds Five – Missing The War Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I think that this song, which is a great song, is about either a man getting drunk, and in fights all the time, or a man getting drunk, coming home, and beating his wife. That was just my first impression upon reading the actual lyrics. | |

I think that this song most likely means; abuse of power, by authorities, in other words, corruption. But never the less, a great song...my favorite Dispatch song by far. |

| Elton John – Tiny Dancer Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
In the first 4 lines, I think that Elton John is describing a woman that he loved, and like 'tiny dancer' said, a back-up singer, or something along the lines of that. Then, in the second 4 lines, I think that he is describing perhaps a car accident that occured, hence; "Jesus freaks out in the street Handing tickets out for God Turning back she just laughs The boulevard is not that bad" and a lost life, maybe the woman that he loved. Then, in the third 4 lines, he is describing a concert of somesort where he plays a song that he just wrote for his lost love. I think that the relevance of the "tiny dancer" is perhaps a memory of this lost love, who died due to the car accident. In the chorus, he says; "Hold me closer tiny dancer" which I think represents the feelings that he still feels for this lost love. And, "Count the headlights on the highway" represents the car accident. And, "Lay me down in sheets of linen" represents the death of this loved one. This was just my first impression upon listening to the song...but what a song it is. |
