I agree with some of the people above, that this song is about hooking up with someone and wanting more than just that. "Don't get any big ideas" is like "this isn't ever going to be love/marriage". "Now that you've found it, it's gone" and "Now that you feel it, you don't" are like "now that you finally got the woman of your dreams, she's gone because all she wanted was sex" and "now that you've felt her body, you don't feel the love anymore". I think the old lyrics make it pretty clear ("She kisses you with tongue and pulls you to the bed. Don't go, you'll only want to come back again"). She'll pull you back to bed, which you'll enjoy but regret later because your need for her will only get stronger, but she'll never love you. So you'll be hurt more if you go to bed with her. |

this is a very rough guess... but i interpret this as the singer wants a girl really badly, but she just wants him to chill and settle down. if he lightens up a bit she'll like him more. |

im thinking this is about jesus? "the water beneath his feet" could be his walking on water. "Do you believe in me he said, can you believe in me... " could definetly be jesus. "Boy wakes up and runs outside
To find that all his fears have died " god can solve all of your fears, etc. just my opinion. tell me what you think of it. |

great song! i dont really understand the "there goes a _" part but its about a couple who is going through rough times. the man is not treating the women right. she knows she shouldnt be with him, but she cant leave him. he doesnt understand the situation. |

one of the best bnl songs, actually! this was a video made for a public service announcement in canada in like 1995 i believe. ed is dressed up in a green suit. i love the video and the message. its saying not to be judgemental and even if you look different from someone else, you can be whatever you want to be. love you, barenaked ladies! |

i guess this song is just about how if you dont have much in common with someone great, it may be hard, but you can still get along. once you find something you agree on, thats great! |

another correction "ill speak to you through this rainy hour" is really "ill speak to you through this radio" you need to study your lyrics, dragonflower44. |

ive had a death in the family and that makes me think this is about a death. by the way, the lyrics are wrong; when it says "finally i weep", it should be "funny how we". i dont really have an explanation for the death remark, except the line "funny how we, we go down, we go anywhere but to the ground." (when we die our spirits die but are not buried underground). "man overboard" also sounds like death. this song is definetly one of my favorites by dispatch! |

one of my favorite guster songs of Lost and Gone Forever. i think this guy doesnt think that his dreams will come true, but later he has a great dream and it feels so real that he knows dreams do come true. he now has confidence and wants everyone to work for what they wish for to make it work. |

my interpretation of the song is that he's holding something back from his love (at the parade). as time goes on, the situation grows deeper and he wants to tell her more and more, but becomes more hostile. he thinks she has changed into something he doesn't like. he's been so damn sad/mad/tired of being with her and acting like he needs her (playing his part). good song. message me with any thoughts. |

the friend thing totally fits. before reading the other comments, i thought this was about someone moving away or making a big change in his or her life. they thought it'd be easy to start again in a new, better town/friends/etc., but it turns out to be difficult and they aren't as happy as they imagined they'd be in the new situation. |

i agree with what has been said already. its about loving someone who isnt as kind to you as you are to them. you want it all to work out, but you dont know if it'll make a difference/it's worth it. i love this song, it really touched me the first time i heard it and i immediately wanted to get to know guster. |

Sorry to say, this is the only Zeppelin song I know now, but I'd say it deserves the "classic" title. I can't say if any other Zeppelin songs deserved it over this one, because that's each persons individual opinion. Judging from the reaction of the nation, this must be one of the best. Just touching up on something else, if you play guitar, make a note to learn this one, or just part of it. I learned it when I first got my guitar and it has really helped my picking skills and it's just a great song! |

i agree with skibunnie. the song is about growing up and changing the rules. he's just trying to say that he's outgrown the past restrictions and he should have all of the privliges he deserves, despite his parent's unsureness. we wants to tell them that he'll be okay as long as its okay with them. |

the song isnt just about devotion, rather its questioning whether either two ex-lovers or two friends want to get together. "and if we were walking
down a dead end street
would you be the one to let our eyes meet?" who wouldnt their eyes meet unless they werent sure of themselves? this isnt just a love song. |

the song could be about friends who are considering growing closer. they may be afraid to let their eyes meet because they dont want to spoil their relationship. |

This song is a masterpiece! Well it's obviously about how you should just be yourself around the person you love. If you are shy, then the person you want will not take your bait. I can relate to this song because I'm a very shy person so I don't have fun around guys unless I'm myself. |

| Barenaked Ladies – Blame It On Me Lyrics

This song is pretty self explanatory. The two got in a fight and the "you" of the song is needing someone to blame the quarrel on. Steven tells "you" that you can just blame it on him. I've been a full-out BNL fan for 9 years and this is one of my favorites. I love how the flavor changes throughout the song as the moods change. |

This song is about how no matter how troublesome you think the world is, there's always someone there to help you. I think the song is kind of odd how the tune sounds sad and the lyrics are encouraging. Am I wrong? I love this song anyways. |
