I'm not a fan of songs like this, however the music kicks ass. I am pissed off they removed the guitar riff that used to be the intro...Now the song just starts at the heavy part...when the album leaked a few months ago, it had this awesome freaky riff in the beginning...it was one of my favorite guitar riffs on the CD...oh well... |

Besides that, I think Jon is touching on the ridiculous concepts of things such as fate and punishment for sins. So often when something bad happens to someone, you will see them looking up to the sky and ask "why me?," as if they were being punished for something they did wrong. It's really quite illogical. We don't even know if "God" exists, and Jon even touches on that. Too many people have convinced themselves that they KNOW there is a "God" because their believe is so ridiculously strong. Beliefs are too dangerous. Nonetheless, I think this song is a little Nietzsche-esque. |

Maybe Dave's love died figuratively, not literally, and he uses the cold hand line to symbolize the death of his love.
And by the way, you can't say anyone is wrong with this stuff...it's all interpretation, and I'm sure Dave wrote knowingly it could go many ways... |
