Demons and Wizards – Fiddler On The Green Lyrics 23 years ago
This song is quite a lovely song about the enigmatic figure of Death. If you don't know of him, he's the taker of souls, he who waits for the end of life and takes the souls home.
One of the best ballads I've ever heard.

Emperor – I Am The Black Wizards Lyrics 23 years ago
I'm not even going to try to explain this one. I believe it's simply an evil fairy tale about an all powerful sorcerer who controls evil wizards who live in the mountains.

Note of interest: My band does a decent cover of this song. If anyone wants to hear it, the MP3 is located at http://www.purestmetal.com/blackwizvocals.mp3

Cannibal Corpse – Pounded Into Dust Lyrics 23 years ago
Essentially a song about defeating an enemy, hence "pounded into dust".

Blind Guardian – And Then There Was Silence Lyrics 23 years ago
I am pretty sure this is a lyrical adaptation of Homer's "The Oddysee" (SP? Man I suck with classical literature spelling). If I am *wrong* it is simply a collection of Roman lore and mythology wrapped into one, which the Odyssee (Again, SP? I'll get it right one of these times!) basically is anyway.

Possibly the most EPIC song I've ever heard, at least contemporary.

Blind Guardian – Nightfall Lyrics 23 years ago
This is really a lyrical representation of a section of "The Sillamarillion(sp?)", a book by J.R.R. Tolkien. The book is essentially a pre-history of the world presented in books such as "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit".
The song is a small portion pertaining to nightfall in the land of Middle Earth, from the perspective of the Elves who inhabit it. I think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever created, and suits the feeling of fantasy novels, especially the Tolkien series VERY well.
