SexierThanSox, where the hell did you get the idea that Davey is a wiccan!?! you don't know that! I guess Davey's lyrics on all his songs are open to everyone's own interpretation. To me this song is about the popularity of AFI and Davey. This is what the song is to me: To an extent, AFI are a somewhat underground band and to the fans are a genuinely special and unique band to be a fan of. The special connection between the band and the fans is what it means in "the star beneath the stairs". and vice versa for ghost upon the stage - it's like Davey is out in the open, everyone knows the band, but Davey is just a ghost, no one sees in him what the real fans do. So basically its saying that he isnt sure whether he wants the band to become popular or not, maybe it will all work out for the best ('or will be become one') 'and in the morning there is nothing left but what's inside of me' : ok here i think Davey is basically saying, im not going to think about popularity, it isnt going to affect me, im just going to continue to do what i do and give it my all, just as I always have done. 'I dont want to Die Tonight. I dont want to fall into the light.' : I think this is Davey saying that he doesnt want AFI to just become obsolete, but he doesnt want to become famous (fall into the light). this song is cool to play. anyone can play it! if your in a badn learn it. the bass and guitar parts are easy and there aint much drumming and the vocals are pretty simple. you find the tabs somewhere, just go on a search engine like yahoo and search for morningstar AFI tabs or soemthing. Yeah cuz this song isnt on any of The Cure's abums so it was probably done for the movie. Cool I am a total Crow freak too! i watch it at least 5 times a week. and beetlejuice this song is really cool, i first heard it on The Crow aswell and it's the best song in the movie and really suits the part it's played at when Eric first puts on the face paint. This song just reminds me of this place me and my friends used to go to every night, and no one else could ever see us or find us or know we were there, it was our place...er you probably dont kow what im talking about but it was special and i was always listening to this song around that time. Can this thing be about beetle juice now and not the song? oh right ok, the song totally rules, and Davey's lyrics are amazing, especialy the line that starts with "Do I hear the hollow sound..." this isnt even one of the best on the album i dont think but it god DAMMIT it rules!! But it does mention Beetle GEUSE so maybe its getting better. christ its good, the best is obviously the lost souls though. and OGAG. Tiger Army also rule, if you like AFI then you love them too |

| hmm ok i see your point actually....ok i think it could be 1 of 2 things now. it could either be what i put before about vampires, OR it could be more meaningful. the title Exsanguinate means to drain so i think this could be davey saying like what if his life was drained of everything that made him individual or something and becoming just another everyday person (like a vampire really ;-) cuz they are all the same just like a horde of people) so the bit about "holding me down" could be about someone holding him back from doing what he wants to do so basicaly he is dying and then they bring him back to life to be something he doesnt want to be....err i dont know what ive just wrote, probably a loadof crap. but i still like the idea that its about vampires. i dont see why people think it wouldnt be. if i ever meet davey (chyeah right) i am gona god damn ask him cuz this is anoying!!! or maybe its one ofthose situations where we're never meant to know......anyway bye | |

Yeah we went camping in the woods on halloween night 2001 and i played this and it was wel cool. we were all so fuking scared cuz we saw this guy drag this woman crying and screaming into this building, dunno if they were acting or not but it scared the hell outta us and we were all hiding behind trees for ages but nothin happened. sorry for telling my life story but this song really rocks, it just feels so ace to listen to, and the piano crashing bit is scary too on halloween but it goes on for too long i reckon. i love this song and the all hallows EP so much!!!! WOW this song seroiusly f*kin rocks!! 'What It Is To Burn' only just came out over here in the UK and i havent got it yet, i was £1 off buying it dammit!! but i heard this song on a cd i got with a magazine. The song is realy powerful and the lyrics are so cool. Im listening to it right now, i love the bit where the chorus is going on with the "WHO WILL STOP ME NOW" screaming in the background. Yep i reckon this song is definitely about the guy saying to a girl that he loves her (3 simple words) and her not responding which is really a huge embarrasment and makes you feel like shit basically. The line "What did I expect? Did I see forever in you?" shows this coz its like him saying "What the hell was i thinking when i said that?! It's not as if we were going to get married or anything". And i think the chorus "I never wanted it to hurt more than it should. I hope your satisfied, I never could." is basically saying I didnt mean to put pressure on you or make things awkward when i said that, BUT you could at least have shown some appreciation for what i've just done and not leave me out in the cold". Damn this song is good. They remind me of AFI even tho theyre nothing like them... |

| I'm not sure, maybe its another of Daveys vampire themed songs. others include Exsanguination, Porphyria Cutanea Tarda, Over-Exposure. It sounds like its about offering blood as in a SACRIFICe!! sounds like he is asking someone to drink his blood (feel the warmth - warm blood, taste the life flow - blood is the life flow). Im sure people had already worked this all out but just in case i wrote it on here. I dont actually know WHAT the song is about, only Davey will know that, but it could be like its about him saying to someone well what else do you want from me?!! i'l let you drink my blood if thats what it takes!! or maybe its just about a big mass sacrifice like in the aztecs where people were just constantly sacrificed for their Gods. Oh come on people, ForeverDead is spot on about this song. it IS about vampires!!! It is so obvious! The song is called Exsanguination which means 'to be drained of blood'. Also the song before it on the album is called Porphyria, which is a skin disease which makes you allergic to sunlight, so in the olden days, people who caught it were thought to be ......VAMPIRES!!! The album ha a lot of connection with vampires. ForeverDead has already explained the song and it fits perfectly. Davey doesnt have to believe in vampires to write a song about them does he? This song is also off an album where Davey has turned into a goth and so writes about all dark stuff. He also likes all Tim Burton films (nightmare before christmas, beetlejuice etc) and dark things, halloween, occult stuff anyway and looks like one of those vampire people and i also doubt that Davey has a vampire fetish. but that dont mean he cant write about them. I wasnt quite sure what this line meant though, "Just stumble and fall into a world that's over crowded, and you will find me, wont recognize me, i wont recognize myself" if it was connected to vampires. But i think it means like all you have to do is make a mistake and stumble into the grasp of a vampire and your life will be f**ked and you wont be able to recognise yourself because you have changed so significantly. But the "overcrowded world" bit puzzled me. So i came up with this- when you are a vampire you will see the world as overcrowded because: i have 3 explanations for this 1. There are so many vampires in the world that you didn't even know existed before you became one 2. The world is overcrowded with humans who are the enemy because now you want to drink their blood or exsanguinate them if you will 3. Davey couldn't be bothered to think of anything good to write Personally I think number 1 |

| Yeah Dream of WAKING!! This song seriously rules though. SO whats it about....hmm well its sorta obvious what its about I THINK heheh im probably wrong. well it seems like its just about wanting to wake up from a really bad nightmare, so he's 'dreaming of waking up' and he is just going through all the strange, panicking, bad feelings you have in a nightmare. You can see this in the very last line "To cry, I try, to break the static keeping me here in between." which means he trys to break the 'static' that is keeping him asleep so that he wakes up. Another thing is that Davey calls the nightmare "somewhere between... between a dream and motionless reality". I reckon this is pointing out that a nightmare is between a beautiful dream and horrible, cruel reality. It is sort of a mid point - a nightmare isnt as nice as a dream, but it isnt is bad as reality. THERE we go I have deciphered yet another song! Actually that was my first ;-) cool. Anyway AFI rule, Black Sails in the Sunset is the best album with the best lyrics. This song isnt on any CD albums, its on the vinyl Art of Drowning which I will never be able to god damn find. Thank god I heard it on a free CD with a magazine. | |
