This is by far one of AFI's best songs. I read that this song though, isnt about Jesus, or a girlfriend. It is about him not becoming what his mother wanted him to become. As you guys should know, Davey dropped out of Berkeley, and reformed his band from high school, which through a few changes became AFI. In the first verse he speaks about leaving his mothers wishes and following his own path. The chorus explains how he feels and how his mother feels. In then next verse, he says he wants to fix his "story", or his life, to possibly please his mother, but he knows that he can't, so he must close it and hide it. But he still can feel the wishes of his mother. Then the last verse is self explanetory. |

This is definately one of my favorite songs by TJT. Everytime I read the lyrics I remember my childhood and how carefree and innocent it was. I think we all have a nastalgia for our childhood, mainly for the simplicity of it. As we grow older and things become more complicated, we want to go back to building our cabins. This song can connect with anyone who remembers their past, and all the neighborhood kids. I don't think looking back on it is bad, because we need it to keep us in check in our lives today. |
