| Ben Folds Five – Barrytown Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I think the song is either about gay people or people of ethnic minority. But being that Steely Dan wrote the song at a time when ethnic minorities were getting some respect, I'm going to guess that he's singing it to a gay guy from the perspective of a more "closed" individual. | |

It's cool. This song has so much more meaning when you have kids. I could see myself saying this to MY son, who just turned 3. It's like, I'm so excited to watch him grow up and experience things, but at the same time, it's gonna suck because I'm going to have to watch him deal with all the shitty stuff in life. It adds to it, too, that Ben does the video for this song with his son. It's funny, Ben can write a goofy song like "Underground," and then go write a beautiful, poignant song like this, or like "Jane" or "Brick." THAT, my friends, is talent. |

| Pete Yorn – Murray Lyrics | 23 years ago |

It is about Murray Wilson (Brian, Carl, and Dennis' dad). He was the manager of the Beach Boys, and he was a real asshole. I really like the line about "Talkin' out of the left side of his mouth." That's pretty funny, because that's exactly what Brian Wilson does. |

LiveUrLife, This is the hidden track at the end of musicforthemorningafter. This is a fantastic song. I sing it to my wife at night to lullabye her to sleep. |

I love it too. I love the simple but emotional combination of just voice and guitar. One thing, I think he says "But don't answer that" instead of "don't answer life." |

| Coldplay – Help Is Round the Corner Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet. It's so awesome. Obviously, it's a guy at wit's end. He's burned out, strung out, and doesn't know what to do. He's just clinging to the hope that, as the title says, help is just around the corner. I think having the song be just Chris and the guitar makes it so much more personal and emotional. You can just hear the desperation in his voice, the pleading for some relief, even if only for a short while. I first heard this song in the MTV movie "Wasted," about the high school students in Plano, TX who died of heroin overdoses. They play it right as the clean kid track-star is about to overdose on his first ingestion of heroin (sorry if I ruined it for you). Anyway, it's one of my all-time favourites. |

This is one of my first favourites off the disc. I like that Coldplay isn't afraid to rock out. Yeah, everyone loves their mellow songs, but they have such diversity. I think their sound on this album is more akin to U2. I love this band dearly, but I can't listen to Chris Martin's songwriting much before I start getting jealous. I wish I could write songs like that. |

Actually, David was never addicted to drugs. He said so himself. But it's still a great album. |

| Pedro the Lion – Second Best Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I think it's the husband resigning himself to never be good enough for the best. He knows his ass is kicked by his lifestyle choice, so he's trying to lower his standards by bonking this 3rd rate skank. By the way, Ice...you don't have kids, do you? There are LOTS of married people who go to motels just to get away from their kids. My wife and I have done it a couple of times. Let me tell you, nothing but NOTHING will ruin the mood faster than a pound at the door and a little voice saying, "Mom! Dad! She's biting me! And she took away my Buzz Lightyear!" |

I know a girl who's sad and beautiful. It's quite a stunning combination. A personal favourite at Pedro's live shows. |

| Pedro the Lion – Progress Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I agree. I think that even though the inventions are futuristic, the ideas and attitudes are current. I like the version on the Progress EP better than the "computer-change-my-voice-like-Cher-or-a-boy-band" version found on Control. For those who don't know, this song was originally titled "April 6, 2039." |

| Pedro the Lion – Indian Summer Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Exactly, and if you have kids, you know how important it is to make sure that they are raised right. MY kids are being raised to appreciate the truly important things in life, not fleeting things like money and power. I just want them to be happy, and I want them to define success for themselves. This song is a great reminder. |

| Pedro the Lion – Penetration Lyrics | 23 years ago |

It's scary how much the company I work for sounds like the company in this song. My boss's boss told us to lie to customers, or at least give out unproven information as fact. Actually, he more threatened us...said we could lose our jobs if we didn't, which is why I'm trying to get out of here. I don't want to be on the Titanic when it goes down. On a separate note, I love how David takes the whole album to tell a story. It's really cool, but the songs are good enough to stand out on their own. |

| Coldplay – We Never Change Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This song is like my theme song. If you wanna know what I'm all about, this is it. I mean, I'm more complex than that, but I just want to live my life, make friends, and love everyone. My family more than others, but you know what I mean. I just want to live my life and be happy, and make other people happy. Great song. You gotta love a song that ends with "I wanna live where the sun comes out." |

| Coldplay – Trouble Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This song means a lot to me. I did some things that really hurt my wife (not physically), and pretty much broke her heart, but I was stupid and selfish and wasn't aware that I was doing that. So when she told me, I felt like utter shite. A few days later (after we started to patch things up) I was sitting in the car, kids in the back, waiting for my wife to come out, and I heard this song, and actually listened to it. I wanted to just die. So I left the kids in the car and went inside and told her again how I REALLY felt about her, and that I'd heard the song and felt like it was me singing it. And I cried pretty hard, which is unusual for me. But the meaning of the song is very personal for me. Because if I'd know early on that my actions were hurting my wife the way they were, I'd never have kept on the way I did. I mean, she's my best friend ever, and how could I cause her that kind of trouble? Anyway, the song rocks, and Coldplay is one of our favourite bands. |
