Good Charlotte – Girls and Boys Lyrics 9 years ago
@[joeytheboy:16192] I actually find out after all these years that it sounds like a Patti Smith song. So it's really ironic that anti-GCers' pool of references doesn't go beyond pop culture.

Here in 2016 because this discussion is a pet subject of mine ;)

At least you didn't want to lose your virginity to Reel Around The Fountain by The Smiths... And I think I DID realise the meaning at the time! XD

The guy just said 'I bet', he wasn't quoting Brett or whatever. Brett didn't say it. :)

He hates bubblegum Punk? Does he hate The Ramones, then?

And any lyric that makes one think is 'Punk', in my book. I know the original poster probably won't read my comment, but I want people reading this discussion to see the different point of view.

I don't know what he meant, I know what it sounds like to me...

Could some with more of a clean mind try to interpret it, perhaps?

Ian McCulloch sure likes to write about lips; Narcissist, have you ever seen him? His ex-wife Lorainne looked quite like him.

Jokes aside, I love Echo & The Bunnymen, everything about them is genius. Well, apart from the Burke period, in my opinion.

I personally think it's quite a romantic song, with gothic overtones to make it sound more deep. :)

Mac admits 'Fate up against your will' came to him in a dream, he relates the phrase to predestination so I guess that's what he wanted it to sound like, but I heard different things about it so I don't think it has one conclusive meaning.

It's nice to read what you guys think, though, there's some good madness going on here. :D

You thickos. This song is about materialism and how is degrades womens' status
"The girls with the bodies like boys with Ferraris". Fuckwits. I bet you guys know nothing about punk, you regard it just as a style of music.

This is the most genious song I've heard in a long while. And don't tale to me about Blur, I'm the biggest Blur fan there is.

Hey, that 1984 theory was finger-licking goodness! :)
Since 'Life becoming a landslide' and 'Too cold here' Mention birth as first in a line of traumatic events 'The first time you see yourself naked you cry' can also be refered to the cries of a newborn..
But more significantly, it also refers to the way a teenager re-discover their body.

Oasis – (It's Good) To Be Free Lyrics 23 years ago
The song is about a sense of fitting in within yourself- A lot of Oasis songs are like that, very focused on the self. One has themselves to trust...It traces success and vanity.

Manic Street Preachers – So Why So Sad Lyrics 23 years ago
I think it's about natural melancholy versus the beauty of life. Sometimes happiness and calm posses more horror than the reality od despair.
Also- a comforting hand makes our struggles smoother but it doesn't make us whole.
