i think this song isnt about her genuinly loving some guy.....i think it is about being raped......she loved and trused a guy and he got her drunk and had his way with her....and out of it she had a child.....the kid would be the one she is refering to when she says we are the lucky ones...first she was in denial of the child and reected it but realized how much she loved it .....hence the thanks god for you and ....it's time to let you know.... |

what this song is saying is that fallowing what everyone else is doing is a true way of security....you dont have to worry about being critisized.....or being called a looser or being made fun of.,....because then your making fun of yourself or allowing yourself to be critisized.....this song is saying .....have the balls to stand out in a croud....be your own person and dont let the fear of critisism stop you from truley being happy...fear and security is what "drives" us as a society....and makeing desitions out of fear of lack of security is no way to live......thus live your life YOU are ment to live.....not some guy down the road with cool hair is supposed to live...and the whoel should i drink water or wine and try to drive......well its also making fun of the catholic religion......wine.....being the blood of christ....and fallowing the curch being conformaty.....so should we live jesus' life not knowing our true purpose in life and never being recognized.......or should we do something for ourselves and be known.....should we be our own jesus....and make our OWN impact? |

this song has a lot of meaning to me.....and incubus as a band has a lot of meaning to me.....i think that THEY are amazing writers and have a really unique way at looking at life......thats why i have so much respect for them.....but the thing i hate is that it isnt my little niche anymore...EVERYONE (sarcasm) loves incubus.....they all hear the music but they dont LISTEN to it......its one thing to sing a song....or sing along with a song......but you need to know the true meaning and emotion....and thats why we are here.....to sit and disect a song to find something relevent out of it....we need a reson to like the song.....and saying we like the sound isnt sufficient......i agree with just letting a song be but if you do this you never think outside the box......and it is in finding out how it effects others what the true meaning of the song is to YOU personally.....if you have a profound experiance and so does someone else it just connects you on a different level...with both the song and that other person.....personally this song meens that fallowing society is the only security you have .....and may get you somewhere good.....but you need to take the risk to find your own path......you may end up somewhere you dont want but fucking up as an individual impacts ONE person......fucking up as a group affects MORE....and if you didnt fallow everyone else.....you inturn may actually avoid the "big fuck up" and when you look back on life what are you going to have a greater impact on you....and what will make you feel liek you accomplished something.....doing something that everyone sle did and never doing something for yourself......or doing somthing that you did on your own and making a difference buy yourself?
