someone may have already mentioned this because i haven't read through all the comments yet, but i thought the song (specifically the first verse) wasn't literal in the sense of them waking up in the morning but rather it was symbolizing him realizing he has feelings for this girl and her not feeling the same way yet. "the dawn is breaking, a light shining through" could be him looking at her that way for the first time and "you're barely waking, i'm tangled up in you" would mean she's not seeing what he is -- she's barely aware of what's going on while he's head over heels. the whole song seems to be the progression of the relationship -- from him liking her and not understanding why because they're not right for one another to the point where she realizes and admits she has feelings as well ("i've found i'm scared to know i'm always on your mind") to the time when she wants the relationship as well - "you finally find you and i collide." great great song |

wow this is such a great song. i love how you can hear in wyclef's voice the excitement that she's willing to atleast listen to his song when he says, "oh before you walk out that door, listen." it's cute :) and the missing word from that one line is "regret." the lyric reads, "but i aint gonna forget that you brought me regret." |

| i love this song!! i'm not really into bigwig but this one gets to me every time, and i never seem to get sick of it. awesome lyrics and it's definitely one of those songs you find yourself singing for hours after hearing it - - yeah, kinda catchy. | |

this is definitely one of my favorite matchbox songs. the lyrics are awesome and really reflect something that i think a lot of ppl feel - - living a life that isn't necessarily fulfilling, but not doing anything about it because, well, you're used to it, and because sometimes it's a lot easier to fake what's normal than to face the reality of something different... but then reaching a point where you just can't take the bullshit anymore. "don't think that i can take another empty moment, don't think that i can fake another hollow smile." ...makes you wanna make a change and get rid of some of the stupid shit in your own life... great song :o) |
