| Kris Kristofferson – Casey's Last Ride Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
|
Casey is headed home to his family late at night, taking as much time as he can, and remembering flashes of the romantic interlude he just finished with a former lover. He's noticing the sadness and foulness of the subway station, referencing the loneliness of the people and the desolation of the city. The bridges between verses are him flashing back to the conversation with this woman from his past who he hasn't seen in a long time, and we know they laid together in each other's arms and that he has a family back home. He stops off at a bar to take some more time, possibly regretting his act, possibly just getting himself to the point of no regret. But the entire song is just what's going through his head as he heads back home after stepping out for the night. |

| Handsome Boy Modeling School – The Truth Lyrics

The song, well Roisin's part, is about recognizing that a relationship has been over for some time, but doing nothing about it. What she's saying is, you go away and do what you need to do. It won't kill me if you leave. But you can't hide from the truth of the situation, so just accept it. |

Many of us have been here before. You have an ex that you occasionally still sleep with, and they always think it's more than physical. So she's telling him that the emotional relationship is over. Great line: "the only time I hold your hand is to get the angle right" |

quite a few mistakes here, but a pretty strong effort to decipher the lyrics. "You're rolled up sleeves and your skull t-shirt", "sniff me out like I was Tanqueray", "Upstairs in bed with my ex boy, he's in the place, but I can't get joy. Thinking of you in the final throws. This is when my buzzer goes", "Went out to meet your chips and bitter", "Then you notice lickle carpet burn, my stomach drop, yeah and my guts churn"...at least that's what I hear anyway. If anybody has the actual liner notes, what's that line after "you shrug, and it's the worst"? |

Nobody seems to be noticing that the line "a jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place" could be referring to a young boy "in the closet," not quite knowing how to live the way he's expected to live. |

| Esthero – Country Livin' (The World I Know) Lyrics

this is probably one of the most perfect-sounding songs ever made, right up there with Isaac Hayes' Walk on By and the Beatles' Yesterday. The sentiment is clear that she's bored with her life, with the slow plodding days and nights of country living. I feel like I just want to pack up and leave it all behind too, and this is my theme song. |

| The Beatles – The Fool on the Hill Lyrics

from the first time i heard the song, i just interpreted the fool to be god, a highly enlightened being, or whatever you want to believe in. He does what he does and is content within himself, but those who don't understand him can find nothing better to do than deem him a fool. If you believe in some higher power in human form, it's like a prophet preaching the good word to a mass of people, but nobody gets the message. But, my problem is I haven't decided if the song is about god, or just one of those ridiculously talented songwriters that makes much more sense than people can understand. |

I've asked Esthero 3 times to explain this song to me, but she just won't. I don't think she likes talking about the motivation behind her songs, but she's funny as hell and very insightful on anything else. artists are funny like that. |

you know....your insight is mindblowing. I had no idea that this song was about abortion until you pointed me in the right direction. It makes perfect sense now. |

has anyone except me taken notice that this song is about a stripper? I understand that some of Norah's band members write her songs and this one, obviously, was written by a man about a dancer. |
