I hear you guys. I downloaded an advanced copy of this album (don't worry, already have it pre-ordered) and when I first listened to it, I didn't know what to think. Like many people, I wanted and expected What it is to Burn Pt. 2. When they scrapped this album the first time and got a different producer, everyone was talking. Everyone was saying how much harder this album was going to be, and to be honest, it is. But I think it's okay. I like it, a lot. Sometimes fans have a problem when a band evolves. I didn't like this stuff at first, but then I realized that it's not like Finch is abandoning their roots. I went to their show a couple nights ago and it was good to see that they still play their old stuff. They're just trying something different. You know how Project Mayhem sticks out like a sore thumb on WIITB? Well, that's because they were experimenting with that sound. Just think of this as a whole album of experimentation. Give it a shot, and you'll see you have nothing to fear. |

Pitchfork Red, when did you see them in concert? Most of what Gerard says when he's on stage shouldn't be taken literally. He was wasted for almost every show this summer on the Warped Tour. He's recently cleaned up. He likes to make shit up a lot too. LoL I love him for it. Great song, great album. |

| I enjoy this cover. Henley's original is better, but I think this is a good cover. My only complaint is when they changed the lyrics! Why did they have to change it from DEAD HEAD to BLACK FLAG? I mean seriously. It was fine the way it was. I guess the context is the same, but it bothers me for some reason. Sick Shift also has a really awesome cover of this song. It's probably my favorite cover of this song, and there are quite a few. Sick Shift's is a lot more raw sounding. It's definately punkish. Codeseven also has one. It's pretty good. Though, nothing will compare to Henley. | |

My friend is getting me into Nina Simone. She burned me a CD with a lot of Jazz and Soul music on it, and this is probably my favorite song. I like this version better than Norah Jones'. You just can't beat Nina's deep voice. I was sad when I found out she died the other day. But she'll always live on through her incredible music. |

| This is one of the best paralelled songs that I've heard in a long time. It's from the Welcome to the Family compilation. It's so beautiful. It creates such an image. Everytime I listen to this song, I can see a whole movie or music video for it unfold in my head. I love this song so much. The Benjamins really did it with this song. | Great song. I love the It's All About the Girls EP. That and Nothing Gold Can Stay have the best NFG songs. Don't get me wrong, I'm an all around NFG fan, but their earlier stuff is just...has the best combination of catchy and meaningful. Look at this song. It can really mean something, but it's so very catchy. You can't help but sing along with it. The same goes for songs on NGCS. You know I'm really sick of this 'selling out' shit that people are always bitching about. That's why some people are in bands. The hope is to reach as many people as youc an with your music through forms of mass media. ie radio, mtv, what have you. Just because they've accomplished that, doesn't mean they're selling out. The day I see NFG selling Pepsi and Advil, then I'll know they've sold out. So quite bitching about them being on MTV. That's what artists do; they get famous. |

This seems to be a very reflective song. To me, it seems like it jumps through time though. It's almost as if it's going between the past and present in between verses and the chorus. That's what interests me in this song so. 'my heart is pumping for one reason maybe it's my imagination but it's true it's all in your hands i no longer have this on my shoulders' I think the song starts out in the past. He's remembering something that happened. in a relationship some time ago, but as it turns out, it meants a lot to him. It seems as though there's been an incident. Something that he must have really messed up on, and it's now implied that it's it's no longer on his shoulders. Meaning what they're going to do about it is not up to him...the success of their relationship lies in her hands. In forgiving him for what he did, if you will 'oh no it must be something i said love is another word for regret you know it must be part of my plan it's never too late to understand' Again, he's reflecting in the past. Remembering what he did. He's obviously said something that didn't go off to well with her. He really does love her and regrets what he did deeply. Maybe if he can convince her that he didn't mean it, then everything will be okay. I think most of us men have been down that road. 'and i wanted it to be something more than just another run-around for me and even though... i'm glad that i'm finally free all that's left for my life is now up to me' This is where I think the song changes time. It's the present now and he's remembering how he really wanted to make this work. It was a very meaningful relationship to him, and maybe he's realized that recently (or maybe not-maybe he realized it shortly after the incident or even before). The run-around line implies that relationships before this were possibly not serious, or just not meaningful to him. He may be free from the problems that they had, but his success in life is still going to always come down to that same line. Is he going to be able to make it work? It's really up to him in the decisions he makes. 'and i walk around for days and i only see you in my dreams' It's still the present, and he's realizing how much he can't stop thinking about her. But she's only in his dreams, a part of the past that he may never see again. But deep down inside, he really wants her back. 'wait for me like i've waited for you' My favorite line in this song by far. This could almost be a decleration to himself. Maybe it is. What he means by this is that he really wants her to give him another chance, to 'wait for him'. Maybe for him to mature, like he's waited for her to forgive him. That seems to be another aspect of us men as well. Always being waited on to mature. But he's right, it takes both of them. They're waiting on each other. That's how I see it anyway. My 2 cents. |

Whether this song is about or inspired by a rape/murder victim, I don't see how that makes it a bad song. I've seen posts that reflect the 'oh i hope it's not that, i love this song and it will ruin it' attitude. I don't see how that ruins it at all. It's still an amazing song that has dark roots, as many of the greatest songs in history have. 'Ring Around the Rosy' was about the Black Death for God's sake, not to say that's a greatest song or anything, but I believe you get my meaning. Personally, I've be glad to think that this song had anti-rape sentiments in it. Despite the official meanings, it is a great song. I don't know if it was the heroin or what, but Scott had a way with catchy verses. |

They're very...heaven-ish. If I can even use that in a sentence. The first two verses of this song always make me want to run out and desperately look for the person I'm supposed to be with. You can almost feel her throwing her arms around your neck. |

| Everything everyone said. Seriously. Great song, great movie. All of that. Actually, this movie has almost developed a cult-like following in my school. In fact, we just finished the school play. 'The Rise and Rise of Daniel Rocket' I plaed Daniel and the girls that did the sound production for the play actually used this song when my character dies in the end. It was so great. The amount of crying you could hear from the audience was incredible. It was an incredible play. It's about this boy who's twelve years old and is ridiculed and made fun of by everyone except his best friend, Richard. But even he doesn't understand him. Daniel falls in love with a girl named Alice and reveals to everyon his secret. The secret that he can fly. All by himself, without wings or anything. Anyway. It ends up being twenty years later in the second act and Richard has married Alice. Daniel comes back to try to get Alice to fly with him, because it seems somewhere along the line he's lost his gift, and he believes Alice can bring it back. Alice won't go with him, so he's jumps off a cliff and ends up dying in Alice's arms. | |

| Yes, thiks song is really great. I like the live version as well. If you like Depeche Mode a lot, I would recommend hearing their music in a different way. There's a CD full of covers out there called For the MASSES. It's got some good stuff on there. Veruca Salt does Somebody and I think it's a pretty fair job. Deftones and Smashing Pumpkins are also on there. It's pretty well done, although Depeche Mode will always hold my favorite (for their own songs, naturally). | |

It really is a great song, and when I heard it, I knew it was one of those songs that will stay with you. It's never been off my playlist...and a year is a long time to keep a song on a playlist. I love the progression in this song. It's so chronological. It's one of those songs that is so personal to the writer, but yet you can still say, 'I so know what he was feeling when he wrote that line,' or that whole song for that matter. I just hope they play this song when I see them at Warped Tour. ^.^ | |
