Dashboard Confessional – Am I Missing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think its about waking to the realisation of who you've become. and then being able to walk away and start again. but you always know someone will be sorry the moment didn't last. |
The Early November – Sunday Drive Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"and the silence from the side of the car tells me everything, and how we are" its when words have lost all sincerity when the silence speaks the loudest. i think everyone's been there at least once. there's always hope in the darkest of places.. even ace got back with the same girlfriend he wrote this about. |
Filmmaker – Don't Speak, She Said Lyrics | 21 years ago |
best filmmaker song. |
Filmmaker – Falling And Failing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
it refers to that feeling you get when you see someone that you used to be close to and now have nothing left to say to them. i held, and probably still hold alot of resentment towards someone i used to be in a relationship with...we were really close for a long time, and now it's like we have nothing left to say to each other...so we just fake smile or say hi in passing. - filmmaker |
Filmmaker – Sing To You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i'm soon to be leaving family and friends behind as i go towards uni. to me, the verses are as if he's telling them to come along. he explains how they'll get there. in the chorus, he says its not that bad coz he'll be home soon. |
Dashboard Confessional – For You To Notice Lyrics | 21 years ago |
chris says; "the occasional joke would lift the silence to laughter as the TV light danced in the living room. a circle of friends and her; it was just so perfect. if i believed in all the "outta my league" statements, i would have given up. and i probably should have. the air was slightly warmer where i was but i knew nothing could happen. i fashioned these ideas of perfection and altered my hair, hoping to impress her. i wanted to tell her i would be there anytime. i would be there everytime. she barely noticed me. but i looked, so longingly, and waited. waiting for her to want me, for her to need me, for her to notice me." www.dashtabs.com |
Thursday – Autobiography of a Nation Lyrics | 21 years ago |
criticising the capitalist society is hypocritical in a lot of people's views, including geoff's. how can you fire at yourself when you're as much a part of the system as the president or any other leader. it doesn't make sense. its not political; its simply social concioussness. and i don't think this is restricted to the native american genocide. this can relate perfectly well to 'modern' issues such as vietnam and now, even iraq; "we stole all their images and dance, replaced with borders and flags". |
Matthew Good Band – Running For Home Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Matthew Good Band – The Fine Art Of Falling Apart Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i think the title captures the whole song; it is the fine art of falling apart. "i walk alone and i ride alone" Matt Good's aneuristic lyricsm always provides an insight and from these lines, the loneliness of the world when everything starts falling apart is captured here. "There ain't enough room in this world/For people like you/And horrors like me" The justification of giving up he offers hits too close to home; we're falling apart and "looking to blame somebody" so we don't die for nothing. Everyone just wants to remembered. "I'm certain of it" Ever felt everything collapse? There's so much unknown. But if you're certain of it, you're that much closer to fixing yourself. |
Matthew Good Band – Fated Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Dashboard Confessional – The Brilliant Dance Lyrics | 21 years ago |
its that destruction of one self thats called love. or lack thereof. its that brilliant dance where no body leads at all. if all was lost then i'd find it again. its all about sitting in that stunned silence and watching blinking eights but you don't really care coz no one else really cares either. its that sad reminder that you'll never be there. but its so beautiful. |
Bush – Headful of Ghosts Lyrics | 22 years ago |

Dashboard Confessional – For You To Notice Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i agree with hecka.. being a songwriter doesn't detract the fact that chris is a fucking amazing lyricist. A common rule in songwriting; the more specific the song, the more people it implies to! |
Vex Red – Can't Smile Lyrics | 22 years ago |
vex red are bringing grunge and electronica |
Bush – Warm Machine Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i think this song is pretty straightforward underneath the metaphors. "warm machine" - human being "i memorize the basics" - learning how to live, learning how to be a human "making strange faces - 1000 miles to go " - complaining about life because there is so much left to live of it.. "this is the night, this is the sound" - the night and sound of death "gravitate spacewards" - gravity opposes the movement into space.. similarly an ending opposes movement of motion.. |
Bush – Headful of Ghosts Lyrics | 22 years ago |
definately one of the best bush songs ever!!! "can you save me from myself?" - rossdale at his best!! these guys are the kings of fucking grunge and nirvana's dead so move on!!! |
Bush – Cold Contagious Lyrics | 22 years ago |
confuses the hell out of me too. "cold contagious" - we all start thinking of the slang word for "cold" i.e. a virus infecting our bodies. i think he means the actual coldness ("darkness of your faith", "reality daytrips" - hyperventilating i.e dieing) "you will get yours" - since feeling cold is a sense, all the "mighty mighty men" don't seem to feel anything... they want to be invincible but its futile coz they will get it in the end any other views?? |
Bush – Alien Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i agree with ashley!! BUSH NEEDS MORE COMMENTS!! i signed up solely to give my views on the complete fucking genius songs!! this song, like most of bush stuff, is so metaphorically involved that it would be impossible to give one "correct" meaning. its definately about those silent times with a lover.. but it goes deeper.. "satelites come and go" - satelites of pain, the realisation comes and goes "i'm an alien, you're an alien" - meant to be together - 2 people "beautiful rain" - beautiful feeling/realisation "second blonde child" - a contrast from the fact that thay're both aliens.. also - a child is born every 1/4 of a second.. there's 4 main hair colours.. therefore a blonde child is born every second.. "blonde" is considered beautiful - aryans! everyone else is beautiful and "feels like velvet" whereas we're "aliens".. just my views!! |
