About the song not being on Stay What You Are...it was supposed to be on the album, however they weren't done with the song in time, so it was left off.
I personally see this song as being about suicide, or at least freeing one's self from something...just some sort of escape, be it from life or from certain feelings.
Either way, its a badass song. |

They pretty much got exiled from the Gilman ST club. They were called sellouts and on the wall the words "death to billie joe" were on it. in late 2001, the band played a set at Gilman for the first time in about 9-10 years using instruments from other bands. They played all old songs, and people liked it. So much for "there's no return from 86" |

Insomniac is the best Green Day album hands down...it showcases a band at the breaking point...something many bands have tried to do, but never done it. this CD easily has some of their best lyrics. |

Blink was so much better when Scott was their drummer. He didn't leave to go to college. Mark and Tom kicked him out of the band. He had a drinking problem, so they said that if he cleaned up, he could stay, so he did. They kicked him out anyway. Scott himself said this in an interview. I'll believe what Scott has to say over anything Mark or Tom say. Nowadays, it must take Blink forever to record an album. i've heard their songs live, and they screw up often now. I mean yeah, everyone has good and bad days....blink just has more bad days than good. All the reviews i've read about the Pop Disaster Tour with Green Day say that Green Day has blown Blink away almost every show....Blink has to resort to stage acts and stuff to keep the crowd interesting. They have all the stuff to get people to not see their crappy performance. When Travis joined the band, he had an affect on their sound. Yeah, he's a good drummer, but he's about the only talent in that band. Mark is a horrible bassist, and Tom is an ok guitar player. Frankly, they just don't have that edge they used to have. Their music is overproduced...it just sounds so fake now. And one other thing, whoever writes songs about fucking dogs, grandpa, and other things contained in their immaturity has some issues they need to get checked out. |

This song really doesn't hold much of a meaning to myself anymore. I believe the song is about when Billie Joe's (Green Day's guitarist/singer for those who don't know) girlfriend Adrienne (who is now his wife) moved away and had another boyfriend for a while. The lyrics just fit "i don't know you, but i think i hate you. You're the reason for my misery" etc. It just fits. |
