| Say Anything – You're the Wanker, If Anyone Is (feat. Jordan Pundik, Chad Gilbert & Aaron Gillespie) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Hahaha I used to have this song as the ringtone for my ex-boyfriend. The chorus was really appropriate in letting me know not to answer the phone. It's not the deepest song, but it's pretty straightforward and really fun. It definitely doesn't merit "what a shitty band" comments... |

| Bloc Party – Mercury Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"This is not the time to start a new love" makes sense both with the concept of Mercury being in retrograde (a bad time to start things that you want to be lasting) and with the things said later in the song about "You can pick another stranger / And fall in love" I just did a very long drive from PA to OK and back, and this song played a lot on satellite radio during the drive... I really like it because Mercury in retrograde is usually the bane of my astrological existence. That and the eclipses in Virgo the past couple of years.... but those are done now! :) If you want to better understand the song, definitely look at stuff about astrology and/or read your horoscope when Mercury is in retrograde. Astrologers will encourage you not to sign any binding documents... |

the grammatical choice is interesting, because it sounds the same, but the lyrics would change meaning depending on if it is just show me you're love or just show me your love HMMM hehe |

| Radiohead – 15 Step Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i like the idea of it being BOTH -- a political song and a rejection-in-relationship song. it has the broader meaning and the more personal meaning. i think radiohead is good at that... because all their songs you can take something for yourself and it's going to be different. and i sound like a nut, no? p.s. i about died when they played this at bonnaroo. and i loved how people tried to clap along but couldn't because the beat is somewhat unique. i gave up right away. |

| Mellowdrone – Beautiful Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |

it's definitely a great song when you've been having a bad week and you're just... done. i recently saw them live and about melted when they did this. i spent a semester at a school i really hated, and on really bad days when i was feeling a high school level of emo i'd play this song really loud in my car and remember that i wouldn't be stuck there forever. |

nothing can be worse than the grammar in system of a down's "lonely day." i definitely agree the song is related to growing more mature... but kind of like, growing too mature and not being completely ready for it...? |

| The Shins – Pink Bullets Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| the video to the song is so sad, too. it's just... your heart hurts a little every time you hear it, but it's so good that you want to put it on repeat... | |
| Gwen Stefani – Hollaback Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| haha also feel free to attack my grammar, but i work at a call center, so my train of thought has been interupted several times. however, i had to get it out, as some sort of therapy. that song is seriously driving me bonkers. | |

hmm. unspeakableme, i think you're going a bit too literal. obviously that person was trying to be original by misspelling words like "you," but underneath it all (oh god, that is some kind of pun on this message board, eh?) he/she does have a point. by the definition "pretending to be something one is not," gwen would meet that definition. short of having a labotomy, there is no explination for her change from the thoughtful lyrics and excellent musical collaboration of albums like tragic kingdom and even return of saturn to whatever this shit is. granted, this comes after hearing the song for approximately the sixth or seventh time on the radio at work today. the song is shallow, obnoxious and immature. from the woman who, in her younger days, created songs like "don't speak" and "are you happy now?" it is just plain DEPRESSING that this lyrical trash is repeated infinite numbers of times on pop radio. |

| Zero 7 – Morning Song Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
we recently analyzed the hell out of sylvia plath's morning song in lit.. i think it's interesting they share the same title. it seems kind of like it could be a take on the poem. or at least parts of it. the poem seems to be about motherhood and not being around forever... plath kind of knew she was going to kill herself and not always be there for her kids, so "tomorrow seems...just an illusion we believe" for her............ *shrug* i just like the song :) |

it's actually: "up, down, turn around, please don't let me hit the ground tonight i think i'll walk alone, i'll find my soul as i go home" & a very interesting cover of a great new order song. i |

i hear "like strung out old stars" - tell me if im crazy? i listen to this song pretty much every time i get in my car... it just does something for me. hard to describe. it's akin to seeing johnny depp with eyeliner or something -- goosebumps and shivers :p yes, im obsessive |

| 311 – You Wouldn't Believe Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| some of the parts of the chorus remind me and a friend of our friend who died.. he was an awesome guy who could make us laugh until we cried. and we miss him a lot.. i know that's totally not what this song is about, but any time we need to think of him, we listen to it... | |
| 311 – Amber Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| i heard this song in the car today and i just started crying.. i guess that seems weird, and it is.. a friend of mine that died was big on 311, and i usually hear them out of the blue when i need some cheering up.. like it's a special gift from him almost. and the past 2 times it has been this song.. and it's just a rad song.. and such. | |
