Hawrtbrayker: Bush contributed $87 billion dollars and several hundred thousand US troops to Iraq, a country with no association to the groups that attacked our country, and he's the one that is the only person who is willing to do something about terrorism? That is a ridiculous statement. Bush has done more to keep Bin Laden alive than anyone else. If he had spent that money and used those troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan, we'd have Bin Laden already. But we don't. And we won't, for a long time. President Bush drove us into a ditch. Do you really want to let him sit and spin the tires, or do you want to admit you were wrong and call a tow truck? |

Youeatpoop, you can read into these things in anyway you want to, but it's pretty self evident that alot of BTS' songs are love songs, especially the ones from the first half of their career. For that matter, almost all of their later songs are about relationships in some form or another. You can attempt to distance yourself from "emo/pop-punk stuff" as much as you want, but 75 percent of music is about love, relationships, and how you handle them. Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and nearly all the great bluesmen on whom rock and roll was founded wrote songs about love and heartbreak. Being "cerebral" has nothing to do with it. |

I agree, I just pray that the rest of the EP is just as good...and knowing Fairweather, it will be....I've never heard a bad song by this band |

Bjork's version is great, but Death Cab's version is even more amazing because of the way they create the same musical atmosphere with no synthesizers and full instrumentation...It's a great song, by both performers. |

No, I'm not a songwriter, but that doesn't mean I can't listen and interprete the meanings of songs, does it? I take what I said back - Ben must of had SOME idea where he was going with that lyric, but it has been lost in translation, so to speak.
My take on that lyric is that he's trying to be deep and say that butterflies are not perfect, but their still beautiful. I TOTALLY respect the message of the lyric - what I'm saying is, had he worded it differently, it would be good. Psychoanalyzing butterflies as a metaphor? Good god, get over yourself, Ben.
I'm not missing the point of the song, and not missing the beauty of it, either. I love this song, with or without that awful lyric - I appreciate his music as much as anyone can. |

Ugh, it stands alone in its awkwardness. It sticks out in that song as a bunch of BS. Butterflies (What metaphor is he trying to make?) are passive aggressive (I doubt he, or you, even knows what that means) and put their problems on the shelf (Butterflies don't do S with their problems. They live, they die, they eat in between. The only problems they face are which way to fly.) but they're beautiful. (Run-on sentence, anyone? Besides, stating the obvious is idiotic)
If he's trying to use a metaphor, it fails miserably |

Mourning Has Broken:
Why can't you take them seriiously? There is no reason not to, they're awesome. They've been around since before the CKY videos, so they aren't just a gimmick band |

No, it's no an amazing lyric. Ben Kweller is incredible, but just because he wrote it doesn't mean it has to be amazing, you need to open up and criticize a lil or mediocre shit like that will get passed off as good. Even if he's using that butterfly crap as a metaphor, it's still ridiculous. |

Alicia - There is a produced version out there, and it's exponentially better than the other one.
As for the song: One complaint. I love the song, it's really good, he's got a great voice, but one lyric makes me laugh every time, and not in a good way.
"The butterflys are passive aggressive and put their problems on the shelf but they’re beautiful"
Ugh, that's the most ridiculous lyric of all time. |
