Nice point TLA... Never thought of it like that. I don't think it's literal. If you listen, the "How'd you get so low" is sung by a girl, towards this guy. I think this song is about a couple being stuck in this life, thats just passing by. The girl wants to start life, but the guy doesn't wanna leave this place. hence the shoplifting at the corner store. he's been doing that for years, and now the girl wants to start her life with him. Hence the "how'd you get so low", meaning that he doesn't seem to love her as much as he should. She is high on this romance, and saying How'd you get so low? The chorus(Me and you got a lot..) is about them on their way to the new life. The verses that the guy sings takes us through the story of their romance, from hanging around and shoplifting, to wondering if it would be so hard to just get up and leave. leave the job, leave the shitty apartment, and just go. the howd you get so lows i already explained, and then this verse is where the guy understands what she is saying: Don't mind me. Me? I'm fine. I just get a little lost sometimes. But what I really meant to say, I couldn't live without you another day. Great song by a great band |

| I see this in a few parts. the first being how great these two were for each other. in all of society, they can be who they are, because they have each other. they are both strong together. he's thinking about the great sex, and the even hotter connection in how it brings them together. and because of this rape(wounded) she left. they have been seperated, and it is like a huge BOOM. and he wishes the relationship could go back to the passion it once was, but they've gone too far. he has lost his "1000 julys" which is a metaphore, for the most intense connection he has ever felt. Yea, Semi charmed life is about meth, company is about drugs in general, but probably not focusing on crystal meth. company deals with people stereotyped for doing drugs, when drugs aren't actually bad. crystal meth however is the worst drug. anyway, there was a song about speed(100 julys?). this is one of my favorite songs on the album. i can't think of a single song that i don't like by third eye blind though. |
