i agree with the poster above me, the song is about apathy, how 400 miles from their costline, they sleep safe at night while there is terror going on, and no one cares until retrospect, when the time has passed to do something, then everyone comes out of the woodwork wishing they had "known" the "scope" of the terror, otherwise they would have done something about it, sure they would have!!! its telling people to take a stand and not just let people get massacred, when they see the chance do something, do anything, hold a sign, donate money, do anything dont just goto bed and forget about it, it has nothing to do with the aussie governments involment so much as their reaction, they let it happen, and thats the entire point, dont turn your head, do something about injustice ... |

i used to listen to this song all the time back in 2001-2002, i recently got back from a deployment to iraq, my vehicle had hit a anti-tank mine and i escaped without a scratch, then 2 days later my vehicle was hit by 2 roadside bombs i escaped the first one just fine but 2 marines were injured 5 minutes afterwards i was about 10 meters from another roadside bomb that went off and me and 3 other marines where wounded, and when i heard this song when i got back i was litteraly paralyzed how it described everything so clear about what it is like to be in a situation like that, the denial like this cant be happening, the most powerful part is "save me i think im bleeding" the thought flashed threw my mind, this is indeed a very powerful song |

how many people can say this song reminds them of there ex-girlfriend, lol, she was self destructive and thought that she owned all she had, but when she cheated on me everything she had left and her friends left with me because she made them chose between me and her, lol, to me its not about only money, but the people you surround yourself with the people you influence and stuff, but in the end its all an illusion becuase for people like that loyalty can only be bought and squandered therefore it goes as easily as it came, heh makes me feel good to listen to it, like as my final f**k you, wheres your crown now b*tch? :P |

this song is complicated i think it means something differant to everyone but it reminds me of true love, and having someone there for you when you reach your breaking point, to remind you that nothing else matters, eh i dunno heh it reminds me of my fiance and how i just know shes gonna be there no matter what, she even sang it for me :) hehe, its deffinatly the best duran duran song (in my opinion) but everyone should have a differant meaning for the song... who knows what it was accualy written about. |
