Ah, I love this song. Something about a trumpet in a song is just right. I first heard this song in a flash animation by Project DCK on Newgrounds called "A Day in the Life of Cycon." |

| Aside from the fact that a bunch of these lyrics are off or missing, the song is still good. I don't think it's about ignorance, so much. I think it's more about the monotony of life. You get up in your box of a house, get in your box of a car. Drive to your box at the office in your box cubicle. Go home to your box, sleep, get up and do it again. | |

It should read "I should have known that you were lying When you said that you love me but you were crying" And.. now, instead of know. But other than that, right on. Melmac is the best band in the entire world. No, seriously. |

For all of you who think that this is about the war, think about the parallels between communism and authoritarianism. It doesn't exactly flow well with the Soviet Union, however, the lyrics do go along quite well with those citizens of Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore. In Singapore, the people live under a state of constant "soft authoritarianism" kept in place by Yew's "Asian Values" theory, in which he believes that democracy and the want for individualism are western beliefs, and that Asians would trade in their power over the media and their ability to partake in politics for lower crime rates and more material wealth. The crime rates in Singapore are amazingly low, due to the lack of poverty, and because of the severe punishments. I'm sure some of you remember the American in Singapore who spraypainted some grafiti and got caned? Yeah. Anyway, this parallels telling Heaven from Hell, in that these people are experiencing a "clean" society, so to speak. Very few suffer, and so on, however, these people are still essentially slaves to society. The citizens of Singapore also have no part in the government. Singapore acts on a "leave the politics to the politicians" policy. The most important lyric supporting this idea is "[Would you exchange].. cold comfort for change?" in that, while the majority are comfortable in their place in society, those who are not cannot do anything about it, due to the closed government. This also ties into " exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" on the same note, these people are essentially caged, and by submitting to Yew's theory, they exchange the part in the war against authoritarianism. How I wish you were here, democracy. No, I don't really think this is what the song is about, but it's something to think about. |

| It's a song about going to jail and having to toss somebody's salad. What the hell else could "licky boom boom down" mean? Let's think people. You know what they make you do in county. | |

Alright, what I think this song is about, is the singer is telling his story to a girl. About how he loves her, she'll never love him, until he learns to "wake up" from his state of irresponsibility, and learn to live a life on his own. She knows that he's fragile, and defenseless--"sleeping"-- and she'll watch out for him until he awakens. ..Or I could be wrong. You know. Whatever. |

| Eric Clapton – Change The World Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I can't believe no one has commented on this song. It's great. First on my playlist, that's for sure. I used to listen to this song a while ago, and I just remembered it when I saw Baby Face and Stevie Wonder sing it on TV a few nights back. Anyone that hasn't heard this song, which is hopefully no one, get a copy of it right now. It's beautiful. | |
