It seems like just another end of love song. The girl takes what he offers her and leaves, but he still loves her. Seems like he's kind of lost, but getting back in there.
In the beginning he sounds alone, wrapped up in his memories with the girl. Then he talks about taking chances, getting back into the dating world, maybe. He's trying to move on, but she's evil about the breakup.
Ahh well, I don't really know. I was just listening to the song and wanted to try to break it down a bit. |

Interesting, the-orange-i-choked. It sounds alright, pretty much just like what everyone else said, but more in-depth and line for line.
The only part I really disagree with is about the orange. It seems to me that "The orange I choked, back to my neck" goes together. The way you described it sounded like two different thoughts. I still believe it's kind of like having a knot in your throat, being nervous and unable to speak.
Well, who knows but the writer? Good job nonetheless. |

I believe "the orange I choked back to my neck" is about being nervous. So nervous he can't say anything. Y'know what I mean? Trying to swallow down before he can speak.

I agree with not_blonde. Actually, this song reminds me of a friend who just can't own up to her mistakes. It confuses me though, the lyrics.
"Don't blame yourself. It was everyone around you who made you act this way."
I can't tell if that's sarcasm (the point of view of the person he's singing about) or truth. I'd go with sarcasm though. They can't accept that it's their own fault, whatever bad is happening. It seems like he's saying this is their chance to either own up, or forget it. |

This is one of the good nfg songs... I think it's about learnng to be proud of yourself, or someone who you can be proud of. Or, maybe, changing into this better person so that someone else will like you. Either way, I like the sound of it. |

I never really listened to this song until my friend became obsessed with it, but now I know why she loved it so much. I think it's an excellent song.. describing a relationship with anyone. It could be a friendship, a family thing, or a boyfriend/girlfriend situation. Great song... |

This is an excellent song and it means so much to me emotionally. It mainly reminded me of my brother. He's getting kicked out, moving away. And I'll remember all the yesterdays we've shared. We'll promise to keep in touch and whatnot, but when it all comes down to it, our relationship could never be the same as it is now. The fact of the matter is that he won't be here anymore, and we won't be the same. To me, it feels as if he could care less about leaving me, but I care so much about it. So it's like I'll probably see him on the holidays, but I wouldn't know how to tell him that I miss him because I just feel that he doesn't feel the same way and he wouldn't remember everything that I do. Sorry if this is confusing, too long, or jus' that it doesn't concern you... but that's my aspect of the song. It matches my brother's leaving. Cya. |

This song is actually quite depressing, but maybe you need to be depressed to know it. I'd listened to this song first about a year ago and I never got what it was about. Then, few weeks ago, I listened to it again because I was feeling really depressed, and I think I got it. In my opinion, it's just about being depressed. You don't feel normal, or like you're at home, and you're so far from it, a "Long way from home" And you've got all these pictures of when you were happy, to prove that you actually felt that emotion before. But it seems that no one cares. That's just my opinion though, this is one of the best songs out there. |

Yep, this is a pretty kikazz song. As I was reading the lyrics though, I think it might be about suicide, or just death in general. "Slit my throat" Otherside could be relating to the afterlife. "Once you've gone you can never go back"
Also, I think it may be relating to drug use because of the line, "Burn me out leave me on the otherside" Burn is a term for smoking marijuana, so "Burn me out" would be like, "get me stoned" and "leave me on the otherside" could mean that he likes being in that other state of mind, or being stoned, the drug world is the otherside and he wants to stay there.
Just my two cents though. |

This is an amazing song... I've listened to it so many times and I agree with what all of you said, it's about letting your emotions out, or letting yourself bleed, through music. He's depressed, and this song allows him to do just that. Depressed, I think, because what he sings about in the first verse is exactly how I felt. That's how I related to the song at first. And then I picked up a bass guitar and started writing lyrics for a band my friends and I are starting and now music is a way in which I allow myself to let my emotions out, just as he does in this song. |
