| I thought this was a site for posting SONG MEANINGS, not likes/dislikes of songs! But I guess the majority of people are just consumers and don't think what the message the artist are actually sending. | |

| All songs are open for interpretation, but whether-or-not they make an ounce of damn sense is another damn thing! Heh heh. | |

When I hear this song, I think of a new-age The Emperor, from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, singing this. If I get good a video editing, I might make a mVideo for this. Like when The Emperor is telling Luke to let his Hate flow and, in so many words, "get down with the sickness." All thoughout the scene, Luke's hate is rising toward The Emperor. It's a stretch, but not a hard one if your Star Wars infatuation has just been rekindled. *This is interpretted from the non mommy-beating version of the song. |

"Jesus was an only son for you ... and i still believe that i cannot be saved" Well, he says that Jesus is Gods son, but nevertheless, he still thinks he can't be saved. Maybe he thinks he's done such terrible things that he can't be forgiven or saved, perhaps the reason he feels like a "rat in a cage." By the way, I thought this was for discussing lyrics, not telling our favorite songs. =P |

"justine never knew the rules, hung down with the freaks and the ghouls" I'm pretty sure this is a reference to Frankenstein. As the story goes, this girl Justine is falsely accused for killing a little boy. She is innocent, but is eventually killed for the false accusation. We find out that Frankenstein's monster planted the incriminating evidence in the pocket of her dress while she slept. Thus, "hung out with the freaks and ghouls?" |

| At first, it seems like he's creating a "perfect" woman/whore/slave for himself. Sort of like a Pygmalion or My Fair Lady mixed with Frankenstein. But after a few other posters said that it's just a song Billy created for rhyming...I don't know anymore. | |

The lyrics were written in about 10 minutes and the music about 10 minutes also (I heard Bono say that on a TV special, I think). It comes from Psalm chapter 40. It's starts like this: I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40: 1-3 NIV (New Internation Version) |
