This song is really powerful, it really shows how girls are obsessed with their image, and making themselves look perfect, and it's really unhealthy. I know I have had problems like this, being a girl. But I agree with all three of you...it reminds me of magic in the makeup, and the lyrics are good to relate to, and girls SHOULDN'T have to always be in a "beauty contest" but thats how society made it. I love No Doubt, they are my absolute fave band and Gwen is my idol, I'm so glad I discovered this song! |

Annie, I definitely agree with what you just said. Though dcboy has been making some excellent points, I don't beleive that you will be sent to hell because of a repetitive sin. It is true that God is forgiving, but that is IF you ask for forgiveness. He isn't just going to do it because you say you're saved. If you're really saved, you have to live the christian life. But that doesn't mean that you are perfect and completely god like. no one is perfect, and as annie says, He does realize that. He is our creator, after all. I just returned from the Inside Out Soul Festival in NH, and I had a great experience with the whole thing. 2 years ago I attended, and I didn't feel the same that I did this time. I guess last time I didn't pay attention to the meaning of everything as much. I wasn't saved back then. This time when Skillet was speaking, I almost cried. And Relient K, yes some of their songs don't have christianity in them, like "Lion-O" and "Sadie Hawkins Dance" but those are just fun songs. At least they aren't swearing up a storm and acting like non christians during those songs. Relient K gets me pumped up...They make me happy, and they have a great message that reminds me of my faith in Jesus, every time I listen to them. They show me I can be a strong christian, and still have fun and love life. You don't have to live a life of solemn seriousness just because you're a christian :) Life is great, and we should get as much happiness out of it as we can. And I touched Dermike as he surfed by! That is one cute buffalo!!! Oh, and another thing. It doesn't anger me when people bash my religion and beliefs, and the music I listen to. It just makes me a little sad that they aren't seeing the truth. It makes me feel bad that people like that don't get to experience the wonderfulness of christianity. When the saved people go to heaven, and the unsaved go to hell, I will miss the unsaved, because I know they could have turned their life around. Like someone said...I forgot who it was...But they said that they will be saddened when people who could have been living in Jesus' name, will be going to hell. And to think about that. It doesn't take much to open yourself to God...it isn't as hard as it seems, as long as you aren't afraid. There is nothing scary about Christianity. It makes you feel good about yourself. And whenever I am scared or need someone, and I pray, I instantly feel better. It's like God is to my life, as Advil is to a headache. He just makes me feel good. And I love him. I just wish when I go to heaven, I could live with ALL of you. I wish we all could be saved. What's going to happen when your good friends who aren't saved, go to hell? I will miss them in heaven. They are still my friends. So you people who are saved, and have unsaved friends, and vice versa....do you really want to be parted? That's another reason why we should try and help people be saved. Though I don't want to annoy people, I just want people to get the best they can out of life. God made this life for us, and the least we can do is appreciate it. :) |

Superman, I agree with you. I have a 14 year old sister, and she is just starting to emerge from the teenybopperness. She used to only listen to the stuff on TRL, and now because of me she is listening to my music, which definitely had broadened her music perspective. She still listens to the MTV stuff, but hey so do I...my music style is very eclectic, though I listen to emo and punk mostly. I didn't know Alk3 were ever on MTV. I only watch occassional shows on that station, and they aren't about the music (i dont know why the are on MUSIC TELEVISION, but whatever) I just wish people wouldn't argue about all of this. I definitely agree with the people that said that the "teenyboppers" will listen to punk for a few weeks and move on. If it's on MTV for a little while, it's most likely a trend and won't be played for longer than like a month. And then when the new songs come in, they will be the new "cool" songs and Alkaline Trio will be long forgotten, except to their loyal fans. And to end this, all I have to say is I am really looking forward to seeing Alkaline Trio at the Warped Tour, because they are a rad band. Fuck MTV. Fuck opinions. I'm sorry I stated mine, I just felt the need. Let's all stop this insanity. Oh and another thing. I have no idea what this song means. I have contemplated it many times, but I never know if it's exactly the right interpretation. Whoever said it was about him killing someone, that could be true. But yeah, the song kicks ass.
