I just went though a break up, and i can honestly say this song is exactly how i feel right now. It does seem to be about a couple who's relationship is clearly over, yet he wants her back because he loves her so much, even though clearly she broke it off with him. He still feels like he loves her, and she loves him, but it's just not working. He wants it back even though he knows it's not the bext thing for her, because, as the other people who have posted have already mentioned, he can't live without her...or so he thinks.
Was that comment horifically biased? Agh. |

I think it's possibly about someone who's infatuated with a girl, but they're already in a relationship. Mainly because of the end of the chorous - "coz she won't want me to". Although that doesn't really fit in to the song because it sounds like they've already been together. Maybe he talking about a girl in a gay relationship and the "she" is the girl's girlfriend. That's a bit out there. Either that or he fancies a guy. Hm... |

Ah, i've changed my mind about this song...
I think it's about the place we're suppose dot go after death - i.e. heaven. It's about everyone's perceptions and images of heaven, "candy canes and planes and bright red choo choo trains". However, thought greg may be leading us to think that the actual 'place' is heaven, i think maybe what he's trying to say is this mystical place which seems so perfect is in fact no where - endless sleep after death. Hence the "please try not to be impatient, for we all hate standing in line...and eternity my friend is a long fucking time"...greg is trying to tell people to make the most of their life instead of waiting for death and this amazing heaven place we've all heard about that may or may not exist. |

lets_kill_music seems indeed intent on killing music in favour of the watered down punk-pop we see on our music channels. Go Simple Plan! (Not that i have a problem with simple plan, but you know, the sarcasm had to appear). This song is amazing, even if it doesn't have a typical punk rock melody. I love the line "I wanna laugh but i think that i'm choking on reality" BR are genius.
I know it's undoubedly not based on this, but the song has striking comparisons to the book 'Vernon God Little' about a kid accused of being an accomplice in a high-school massacre. If anyone's read it they will realise why it has links (it even has the line "his father said that he'd amount to nothing") - he fantasises about a girl but doesn't kno what to do when he gets near her, runs away and is mis-represented by the newspapers (the paper said that he hit the ground running). Meh, just a thought. |

I like the music to this song, and to an extent the lyrics, but doesn't anyone think tha the lyrics are slightly forced? They don't flow nearly as well as lyrics crafted by Bad Religion etc. or even in some of their other songs. All a bit teen writey.
But yeah, i love Pennywise anyway!!! |

There's reference to Catcher in the Rye, and was probably inspired by Catcher in the Rye, but i'm not entirely sure it's 'about' Catcher in the Rye. It's about someone like Holden Caulfield who feels lost, trapped and isolated, trying for things that at most times seem unattainable. I would launch into a literary analysis but it's getting late... |

This is an amazing song, so emotive, just perfect. To me, it's about someone who's in love with another person and coming to terms with it, maybe telling them, maybe just keeping it insde.
I always thought it was "can't believe the chills i get"
But never mind. |

| James Blunt – Wisemen Lyrics

I got the impression (albeit perhaps a wrong one) that this song was sort of a dig at modern society. The riteous and pure (according to the bible) 'wisemen', have been corrupted by today's society, and caught up "in your talent show, with you panikety little bastards and your fancy dress, who just judge each other and try to impress"...that's kind of like a metaphor for today's society and the way people act in it.
Asking the question "where are you now" is encouraging people to question where their lives are heading, what they plan to do with it etc. The "Semi by the sea" bit, to me, shows how people see success as material possessions - the three wise men are happy with their possessions, their drugs and their lifestyle. They think they're having fun, and they've been caught up in the modern way of life.
That's my thought anyway, i thought it fit quite well. |

This song seems to be all about a christian trying to influence people with his words of God, and how determined and bulshitty they are. Sorry about lack of articulacy! |

I think this song is probably more about society then God, but i guess it can have more thenone interpretation. Either way, this song is fucking amazing! "The more cynical you become the better of you'll be" - so true! |

I would say this song was about a guy she likes so muh that she thinks about him all the time, but he doesn't know her. Maybe it could even be a made up dream guy!
It could be about God equally, esp ater readin all ur comments, but in some ways (eg the line "when i close my eyes it's you i see") i can't see how it could be about God. Do religious people really think about God that muh to imagine him every time they close their eyes? Maybe it's all just lyrical rhetoric. |

Yeah i agree with Vullnoid...it's a funny song because its just basically saying "we're gonna destroy the earth and die soon anyway, so why be depressed?" It's like optimistic pessimism. Fantastic song though, very uplifting...could anyone tell me whether it's being sarcastic when it says "your life is historically meaningful, and spans a significant time"? |

"The process of belief is an elixir when you're weak, and imust admit attimes i indulge it on the sneak,
but generally my outlook's not so weak" - This, to me, is Greag saying that people believe in meaningless religions because it makes them feel stronger, and that he himself sometimes feels that way, because it's easier to think that there is a God than to feel alone! |

"If it's real for me, do i have to prove it to you?" is spoken from the perspetive of the religious person. This song is basically stating the complete irrationality of so-called 'epiphanies', besically that they aren't genuine - "why do revelations fade to cold blue untruths?" |

I think it is the school shootings one too...if u listen after the gap when the phone rings, apparently there's a school bell behind it? I don't know if that's true though, as i don't live in America! The pause in the middle is, i think, supposed to express the lonliness that people who do things like shootings are, and then the manic restart shows the switching of their mood from apathy to action. |

I thought this song was a personal song of either Greg's or Brett's (can't remember), and it was about how people laughed at him when he said he wanted to be a musician and now he's made it and he just saying "fuck you" to everyone who doubted him. That's what i heard off another website ne way. |

I thought this song was basically talking about how the percieved mentality of america is one of arrogance and superiority, something well demonstrated in the line "in God, we trust, because he's one of us". It think it's basically saying that the USA is so good that God supports them in everything they do, and therefore they are always right. |

If u listen, on the second chorous, instead of saying "no sense and no guide" he says "no sense and no god", quite interesting. I think it's a song about how people can feel depressed in society today, but not to give up, just defend yourself from it. |
