Tool – You Lied (Peach cover) Lyrics 23 years ago
It's not Merkaba. Salival had tons of mistakes in the booklet when it was released. My copy says the same thing. It's like the "Lateralis" (Lateralus) fiasco. Some were printed with misspellings and messed up info when they were first printed. You probably got one of them as well.

Tool – Cesaro Summability Lyrics 23 years ago
Almost seems like it's a phone call or a walkie talkie. I tried listening hard but it's like it's in a whole other language.

If I had to, my best guess would be that the words are explaining or restating the mathematical formula for the cesaso summability. That might be the reason for the song's name. But so far, no official FAQs have been able to figure out what the segue means.

Tool – You Lied (Peach cover) Lyrics 23 years ago
Agreed that Tool's version is better. Musically it's mostly the same (I mean, it has the same bass player) except a tad slower, however Maynard's vocals seem to fit much better than Peach's vocals. Especially the ending "You lied!" part.

After listening to them a few times I noticed they have slight differences in lyrics. Not much though. I posted the Peach lyrics a while back for anyone interested.

This song was a pretty big downer for me around a year ago after relationship troubles. It was also the first time I heard it, so therefore by association, it'll always strike some deep emotion from me.

"i really love this song, especially the live version"
So...when was the studio version recorded? Unless you're talking about Peach's version.

Tool – Message to Harry Manback II Lyrics 23 years ago
He was Maynard's roommate before he was in Tool. He made long distance calls and never paid, ate everything, drank everything, was violent, etc. After getting drunk one night, Maynard and his other roommates threw him out.

At least that's what I've been reading on most FAQs. Harry Manback II wasn't a new recording, it just wasn't released until Salival.

Tool – Spasm Lyrics 23 years ago
"this isnt actualy a tool song it is a song from the band peach danny carreys old band before he joined tool"

No, it was Justin Chancellor's old alternative-metal band. Paul leaves, Justin's old band fails, Justin joins Tool.

"Maynards side project/band A Perfect Circle has covered it."

Just to clarify a bit, people don't usually realize Billy Howerdel formed and created A Perfect Circle. He was originally going to have a female vocalist but found Maynard willing. It's not Maynard's band.

Tool – Mantra Lyrics 23 years ago
No, Asz is correct. It's Maynard's siamese cat after being squeezed, then the sound produced being distorted and slowed down. I did exactly what you said using GoldWave, and even after trying 5 or 6 different speeds, it sounds closer to a cat. I almost hear occassional hisses, grunts, and "sighs" from it.

Asz's post comes directly from here, I think it's safer to say it's true: http://toolshed.down.net/faq/faq.html

Tool – Merkaba Lyrics 23 years ago
"Mer=place of ascending"

Possibly, but more specifically it translates to "rotating fields of light."

Merkaba is referring to a deep form of meditation that facilitates deep spiritual growth. For those who didn't catch this in the Parabola video, now you know a little more about the superb ending.

Tool – Eon Blue Apocalypse Lyrics 23 years ago
Just to add, Eon (or possibly Eon Blue, can't remember and it doesn't really say) was the name of Adam's great dane. Apparently he died of cancer, and the song title is a kind of tribute.

Earshot – Get Away Lyrics 23 years ago
"lol APC consist of Maynard and adam jones on guitar both from Tool"

Wrong. Adam Jones is not a part of A Perfect Circle. Billy Howerdel is the guitarist *and* founder of A Perfect Circle.

Anyways, Earshot seems to have a tad bit of influence from Tool in the vocals department, but nothing else. They aren't nearly as artsy as APC or Tool in both music styles and lyrical styles. Still, they sound better than most bands out there right now. They seem to be showing great potential.

Tool – Disgustipated Lyrics 23 years ago

"F32. Where'd that little story at the end of "Disgustipated" come from?
Notice how it sounds like someone leaving a message on an answering machine? Seems Maynard's landlord called and left that message. Hence the liner notes' credit: "phone message: bill the landlord."

Yes, I'm sure it's his landlord.

Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have Lyrics 23 years ago
Yeah, people tend to stereotype based on what the media or popular belief says. They seem to think NIN are violent sexual abusers and Tool are satan worshippers...boy are they missing out.

This one was my NIN gateway. Fresh out of a forced breakup and my friend tells me to get this song. Gee, it made me feel so much better...only not. This has to be one of the saddest songs in existance. It's also one of the best.

Tool – Disgustipated Lyrics 23 years ago
According to Toolshed's FAQ, the song is poking fun of political correctness. He's making the statement that carrots should have the right to live and not harvested, hence the "holocaust." But Makoe's got a pretty good explanation as well. As for the end, it's a message his landlord left on his answering machine. He must have been pretty messed up to think something like that up. That or he's a genius.

Peach – You Lied Lyrics 23 years ago
For those that don't know, this is Justin Chancellor's (bass player of Tool) original, now broken up band. They did the original You Lied, which was covered and made more popular by Tool.

Just letting you know before you jump in and go all psychotic about it being under the wrong artist...
