| I've got/had a friend that is the pinnacle of this type of laziness. He dropped out of school as soon as he could(he was intelligent though), and just sits in his house...he won't come out....ever...hasn't got a job..his mom and dad are always out...yet he never asks anyone over...i kinda invited myself over last week and he looked like shit...he fantasises over this girl he didn't have the guts to ask out at school - his room is brim full of porno mags. He used to be quite sound but now he's a grumpy fuck - kinda feel sorry for him....i think every1 goes throu' a time like that - but maybe not so extreme. | |

I think this song has a mild political view of society; how we are surrounded by things we don’t really need or are just irrelevant to life - (but we want it any way) We are persuaded into thinking that we want these things (when he was a kid he thought he wanted everything, but when he grew up - he realised that possession isn’t that important) I think there is a reference to retailers being "crooks" (cheating us with ‘sales’) The ‘economy sized hope’ is no longer adequate because he sees through it, so he’s looking for a new hope. Anyway, I think he’s trying to say what is important in life. I think it’s a sad song because he realises that he can’t gain anything this way. (if you know what I mean) |

| This is my favourite song by the offspring - i used to listen to their old stuff quite a lot but i still listen to this. It's just really mellow. I think there's a mistake in the lyrics because the line "see the way the wind blows" - that's one of my favourite lines is missin'....... | |

okk..I totally agree with what i think this song means. Basically what im iranian said...that we're brainwashed into thinking we want this life and in the end we are all slaves of 'the system'. Who wants to live a fake life like that? well not me....although i probably will...but i'm planning not to. Everbody that i know just thinks i'm altra-paranoid - thinking that we're all trapped in the system. I just want to live free with a girl, that thinks the same way as me and travel: LIVING. |
