Ok guys, here is my take on this song. I t sounds sorta like a crush/unrequited love sort of song to me. Here is why: I feel stupid - but I know it won't last for long I've been guessing - I coulda been guessin' wrong I feel stupid...who has never been made to feel stupid by a member of the opposite sex? I know I have many times. You can feel stupid just for liking someone in, you know, that way. I know it won't last for long...Crushes never do. Or the pain of rejection even fades in time. I've been changin' - think it's funny how now one knows We don't talk about - the little things that we do without I've been changin'...He has tried to change certain things about himself to make this girl like him, but she hasn't noticed, or his changes haven't had the desired effects. Saying "No one's noticed" is a tactic I often use to people when I am obviously meaning the person I am talking to. Sort of a sarcasm thing. We don't talk about, the little things that we do without...What little things do most single people go without? The soft touch of the one you love, holding hands...you know. That sort of thing. He doesn't talk about it because, well, I don't know in this instance, but I know that I have a hard time talking about things of a romantic nature even with my closest friends, beacause I don't want anyone to know just how lonely I know this world can be. So why you gotta satnd there, looking like the answer now... I know this all too well. You can see this person that you want to be with more than anything everyday in noormal life, and you know that he/she holds the solution to every problem you can see through on the horizon, though your vision has been reduced by a love-induced case of tunnel vision. But you know that the personal problems, the loneliness can all be solved by the will of this person, but they just choose to "stand there looking like the answer". You figured me out...Apparently she knows of his feelings, but has chosen to ignore them, which only makes the situation that much more painful. I think you get what I am trying to say, So I will stop breaking this song down line by line and let you get on with reading other comments, but that is my take on this song. I hope you can see what I am saying. |

| I love this song. This is what I listen to when I am feeling down, and it has a way of cheering me up. I guess I sorta pretend John is singing to me, telling me to keep my chin up, and it just makes things better. | |

| The best wordI can come up with to describe this is...Wow. There have been many songs in my life that I could relate to, but none that really reached out, and completely voiced every thought I have had like this ine does. I must say, however, that I cannot completely agree with ankleknocker. Women THINK they know what they want. They want relationships with guys that treat them like reash, but they want friendships with guys like us, that they can call at 3am and complain to about their horrible boyfriend to. I am not bitter or anything. Well, maybe a little, but I don't understand why the good guys are the "Men on the side" while the ones that have no respect for women, and no idea how to properly treat them are the ones they go for. Look at me, I am off on a tangent...sorry about that. I just want to say that I love this song, It is possibly my favorite song I have ever heard, along with "Love Soon" also by John Mayer. A friend at work recently recommended that I listen to some of hhis stuff, and I have been hooked ever since. Well, I guess that is probably more than you wanted to hear from me. Thank you for reading what I have to say. | |
