this song could be about weed, or any other drug...when you're gettin' high with your friends it's always better when everyone's in...."are you in?"
why is it better when everyone's in.....try it and get back to me on this one...i'm not giving all the answers |

I dunno what that was, but this song is about Brandon losing a girl and then getting over it. He is torn between the attachment that has grown, and this after thought reminding him that he's better off without her...
The 1st 3rd and 5th stanzas are representative of Brandon's attachment, and the 2nd 4th and 6th stanzas are representative of Brandon realizing that he's better without her...."then again...(i'm better off without her)" he tells himself, finially deciding to "get off this ride" the ride that his emotions are on. that is assuming that this song is even about brandon... |

dodgerbolt25, you asked why there were all the driving allusions...have you ever heard of an extended metaphor...it's just good writing. As incubus becomes more mainstream becuase of peoples like you their lyrics are going to represent that becuase our society is generally against marijuana...so they disguise it
all of your lack of insight infurates me...and you call yourselves incubus fans?!? |

WOW...the first comment was right, but some of the after comments had partial validity. This song is about people shmokin' for the first time. Green symbolizes weed and the traffic light, to go ahead and try it ..."what are you waiting for a written invitation"
and if what HalfLifeSuicide said about 2012 is right, Brandon's talking either about how smoikin' brings you to that next level of consciosness, or that when we reach that level of consciousness we realize that shmokin' has so many positive sides and very few negative ones other than those the emerge simply because our government labels the drug illegal. This song is about people shmokin' for the first time, and it's a damn good song |

I think this song is about the destruction of mankind. I don't believe it to have any truth whatsoever. ANYWAY, my dad is a dick 'cause he makes me scream at my cat, I mean, who does that???? that's funny, no? I think that as of now my arm is no longer a "part" of "me", chy'know? |

Aldous Huxely(author of "brave new world") also wrote the essay/novel the dorrs of perception in which he depicts the negative sides of TV just as incubus does here. |

Have all of your emotions blinded you from the fact that this may not simply be just another sappy love song. I think you've all underestimated Brandon Boyd's lyrical genous. If anyone here has waked and baked they'll agree that it's like a "three fold utopian dream", and after 10 days without it, I'd be "wasting away"!
In my opinion this is a double sided song. |
