oh...and for kaisute...it can be argued that the ultimate goal of this site is to post what the true meanings of these songs are (hence the whole "songmeanings" part in www.songmeanings.com). thus, while it is interesting to hear what it means to others on a personal level, there should be the option to post what the true meaning of a song is without having to be a member of radiohead.
after all, if i say "fuck you" but then just randomly decide that i want it to mean "love you," that really doesn't change the fact that i initially said "fuck you"....which i don't think you would interpret as a term of endearment. |

the first two lines "come on...crazy" were references to the voices in thom's head. after that the song took on a different meaning and was directed as a taunt toward tony blair. |

ok...thom yorke is not radiohead...he is a member of radiohead and thus, since this song features only thom and was not written or performed by any other radiohead member, it is technically not a "radiohead" song. and since it was a collaboration of thom yorke, dj shadow, and james lavelle (UNKLE) it is rightfully affiliated with the UNKLE project. |

actually, it is liffey and that part is based on a dream:
"Thom, when asked about the words 'I float down the Liffey": "i dreamt i was floating down the liffey and there was nothing i could do. i was flying around Dublin. and I really was in the Dream. the whole song is my experiances of really floating' (19/12/99)"

Mishes said it best...for the 5:56 that this song is playing the rest of the world ceases to exist. Much like Street Spirit and Rabbit in Your Headlights (whose video is one of the best i have ever seen). |

while i completely agree that the live version is absolutely amazing and only seeks to further exemplify radiohead's versitility, those who think that the live version is "much better" must have no concept of the actual art of recording. the sheer technical aspect of the tape manipulation effects, wierd synth pads, and most of all the use of backwards vocals (sometimes on just a syllable or two) intertwined with the regular vocals (and possibly some speed manipulation on them as well) is mind blowing. both versions are equally awesome in their own way and while everyone is entitled to their own opinion and preferences, i think some might just be knocking the album version 'cause they just don't get it. |
