I'm one who relates it to a relationship. More honestly, my relationship. I'm in a great relationship with a great girl. We live together and everything and life follows the standard routine. I'm living the dream and I couldn't find it more stagnant. Everyday is the same and it's basically the grow up, meet a girl, get a job, have kids, etc. I basically run on autopilot throughout my day. I really don't find myself feeling very alive the majority of the time. I mean I pretend and all but really I'm bored and longing for any kind of excitement. Living fast and spontaneous like I did before this. This life that I have is what and who I want when it's time to settle down. Problem being my hearts not there yet. I think it's about believing in someone who has lost faith in themselves. Maybe they did something terrible, mistake or otherwise. Maybe they couldn't do something. Anyway, I think the narrative of the song is that the once great person won't be forgotten and when they finally find themselves or "reach the shore", the person singing will be waiting for them to be great again. |

This song is totally about me and my ex. I swear he had a psychic vision of how it would go between us and wrote this. She's insanely bitter now and makes no bones about constantly reminding me how much she resents me now. She's got issues and they keep her from making friends easily. When we were together she just latched on to me like she needed me to stay afloat. Even stating that she "wanted me all to herself". It was disturbing when I saw that she was serious, using all my energy to fill her void. Always longing for friends, and complaining about any scapegoat that she could use to blame the fact that she isn't a social butterfly like she wished she could be. So after dealing with this for 2 years and trying to help her I just burnt out. I wasn't happy. It was hurting me and it was hurting her. So I ended it, and it hurt badly, but I've moved on. The song is just so perfect. |

To me its about a relationship thats fading. "I dreamed of this so long This used to feel so strong" After finally getting that someone you adore, and the feelings that used to be so strong fade after a while. "No I don't hate But these thoughts won't go away I hope I dream of you Cause it's taking my life away" There is no hate, just thoughts of moving on in life. However there is still that desire and hope for those old feelings to return and to experience them again. Being stuck in that dilemma is wasting time and taking his life away. Just my op. |

i don't see the deal in what kind of band they are. you can classify them as a "christian"(i don't think so), or a "rock" or a "pop" or a "pickle weasel-bluegrass-polka-purple monkey dishwasher" style band, and they're still awsome. amy's voice is powerful and commanding. the song rules, as does the rest of their work. p.s. my friends and i agree that the guy sounds like p.o.d. more than linkin park :p. |
