To me, this song is more than just a call against the image conciousness that runs rampant. It goes deeper than that. Even the 'pretty' people have their problems. This asks more than just "Am I Not Pretty Enough?" The first half of the song is just a series of questions asking what is wrong with the self (whoever is listening). Kasey then goes on to proclaim what it is that she does that makes her good enough, but keeps returning to the self doubt that plagues us all as she sings the chorus one more time. This is a song that is accessible to everyone, male and female, the high school stars and the rejects, the 'beautiful' people and the 'monsters.' We are all the same; no one is perfect. This is nothing that hasn't been stated before, but these are ideas that needed to be announced from the mountain tops one again, especially in a society which has become obsessed with the thought of perfection. And there is no voice sweeter to trumpet this message like that of Kasey Chambers'. |

I'm agnostic as well as some of the others that responded to this, but I can see how some of you would consider it a song about your god. But I interpret it differently. I feel it is about relationships. But everyone is different and no two people are going to have the same interpretation, so take it for what you want. |
