| Phantom Planet – Always On My Mind Lyrics

When I listen to this song, i think of this girl that I like, and like someone said above, it's about more of a faraway obsession than a girl i know very well. I've known her for a couple of weeks, but i really like her, and i constantly think about her. This song is about that girl, and how he can't do anything about his feelings because he doesn't know her that well, and all he can do is hope. |

| Dispatch – Bats In The Belfry Lyrics

I don't know how accurate I am, but this is what I was able to come up with. A "belfry" is a bell tower in a church, so i'm assuming that symbolizes peace and order. Everyday the belfry would ring, and that was part of this person's job. I think the song is about this person deciding he had had enough of pleasing everyone else. Bats in the belfry means he's abandoned his quarters, and he's boiling society, meaning "screw them". "Mamma we're now so hungry", hungry for a taste of freedom, to live life. "we all do what we want", fits right in there too. but like i said, that's only an idea. |

| Dispatch – The General Lyrics

I'll start off by saying Dispatch is my favorite musical group, and have been for a while. I believe The General is in fact about a Civil War general trying to free his men. Why Civil War? The context of the entire song (battlefield, guns on shoulders, sleeping in tents) can be traced to the Civil War. This general realizes that it is utterly useless to kill your own citizens. Not an attempt to disprove the anti-war theory about this song, but I think that it makes even more sense not to kill your own countries people than to not go to war, period. That and the featured context i mentioned earlier both support my theory. Anyone who is into Dispatch can message me on AOL instant messenger, my screen name is the same as my user name here. |
