We can't think for ourseleves and the stupid ignorant people just keep breeding and breeding and making more stupid people that can't think or question the status quo. Popcorn compares to the mass amount of stupid humans that are all just sitting around taking up space.

To be honest, i think Wang was the most right of all. Serj is talking about raising a clueless, ignorant "child" (society) and he has nurtured him with ideas and free thought that made him what he (that you are my mind) but he must survive the Forest of Denial, the true test,(the media and all the other influences that give false believes ((televisions in the air))) He wants him to go on and tell other people because he has the potential to think freely (made the weapons for us all) and now all he has to do is reach others and give them the power to think freely too...but from what i can see he failed to survive the forest ("just look at us now") and that's why everything is the way it is today (System of a Down is obviously not happy with the Status Quo..) |

Wow, Serj said that? Yeah, that is kinda weird.
I thought it was about the media and the government and whatnot obscuring your course (the ships are the people like you and me) and driving you offshore with false promises and confmormity etc., and that there will come a day when they have to give up the lighthouse because we will see through it all and make our way to our destination. And it takes so much work to do so, to be the lone ship ignoring the lighthouse's light and going it alone. (giving a piece of your ass, get ready for the fire) |

Well, these are all good ideas, and i think everyone has a right to share them without criticism. It's what the site is about. But there really is a System of a Down interview where Daron, the guitarist, says it's not about "suercide", but drugs and addiction, which he says is a form of suercide. There it is, he wouldn't have lied. But, as for what the individual parts have to do with it, I have no idea. All of you who are insulting religion and bitching at people should step back, no one is fucking with you, we all have something to say and if you don't like it fine, no need to get critical. |

Man, MeticuliouslyBland had an awesome interpretation, i think his is the best so far and everything is pretty much correct. I also like the idea of Archon's tire hub: It is like a spinning cycle repeating over and over again. I agree this song is about desensitization to life how it is just a meaningless, boring cycle because technology and the government take away free thoughts and eat the seeds of ideas religiously (as a pastime activity) to prevent the growth of something new. And we don't realize this, that most people are asleep at the wheel of life(flashlight reveries caught in the headlights of a truck) and by the time we do it's too late: we hit the truck.
The chorus line is so messed up..."New, what do you own the world?" Either he's talking to 'New' as a person or it just isn't real english...makes it hard to see what he's trying to say. I used to think it was "You, how do you own the world."...but it is what they have on their website.. |
