Here's my thoughts... Jinx me somethin' crazy (when in jinx, someone has to call out your name to free you) Thinkin' if it's three (as in 3 in the morning, and you can't sleep) then I'm as smooth as the skin rolls across the small of your back (girls have tatoos in this place, and the skin is all roughed up) It's too bad it's not my style If you need me (he's not at home at 3 in the morining, so they have to find him) I'm out and on the parkway, (drinking on an overpass is a popular pastime in NY and NJ) patient and waiting for headlights, dressed in a fashion that's fitting to the inconsistencies of my moods (unmatched clothes, the traditional rocker style) It's times like these where silence means everything And no one is to know about this (when you drink your sorrows away, you don't usually want to talk to anyone or have anybody else around) It's a campaign of distraction (doing something like getting drunk to forget about something bad like a breakup) and revisionist history (but all that does is make you remmeber all the old times, good and bad) It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice It's a shame I doubt they even care Don't let me down (when something's wrong with you, but no one can tell, and you don't want to throw a pity party, so you sit there hoping that someone will come up to you and ask what's wrong) But whatever I have gettin' myself into maybe has been slicing inches from my waist (so messed up that he can't eat or sleep, and is wasting away) It's my fist vs. the bottle And that's how bad could this hurt or against I won't feel a thing (trying to decide if getting drunk and wasted to numb yourself is worth more than just dealing with your emotions) I tell you all about it It's just not working out (being drunk and talking to yourself, imagining a conversation that will never tak e place with you and the ex) This is what living like this does! (the scream reinforces that what is "does" is drives you crazy and it's nothing but a vicious cycle of self destruction because nothing hurts like losing a love) |

I recently saw FSF in El Paso with newest singer. I can't believe they actually played this song!!! My favortie all-time Further song, and he actually hit all of the high notes. So close to another new year, this song becomes even more powerful. For me, it is the cheezy idea of new beginings. No matter what has happened in the past, hope is what you hold on to. That this time might be different, that things will turn out the way you want them to. This song is the letter that every heartbroken person writes, but never sends. |

| I think it's not just about having goals for a "cookie cutter" lifestyle. There is that element to the song, but it seems that many have overlooked the aspect of biting more than you can chew, or perhaps eyes larger than the stomach. Yes you must always strive for better, and take on new challenges, and never be the one to back down, but still, at the end of the day, a man can be happy with just enough to get him by.
