Im sure everyone has said it pretty right :)
But yea... his breakup has shown that his first love really wasnt meant for him, that he has to wait for another star to liven up his days. And he loses himself in his courage of supposedly getting over the breakup easily. He sits there with his "great" plans brushing it off, when it really hurts him on the inside. This is what she says gets her through it: "If I don't let myself be happy now then when?" That is her side of the breakup, that is her method of taking it lightly. She tries to convince herself that she really wasnt enjoying it all, but yet both the man and woman are taking this heavily, and all their methods of brushing it off really arent working. When the time we have now ends. "When the big hand goes round again. Can you still feel the butterflies? Can you still hear the last goodnight?" This is him remembering his last moments with her, the butterflies he felt when he kissed her, and his last goodnight to her, knowing it was doomed, the pain he must have felt. He then closes his eyes and hopes for his real star, his angel, to come to him. |

Im thinking he wants her to join him in watching the fireworks, but being deeper than that. He wants to be in a relationship, and he has been in that state where you are feeling empty, like the center frame which had a picture of a happy relationship. The narrator wants to help her out, and see the fireworks with her. He told her his feelings about how her relationship has been going, over and over saying how things do not look hopeful, but he wont rest until he hears her approval to go watch the fireworks. |

In my opinion he is in a relationship, yet his partner just lies about things to get away with her thoughts and actions. "Meet me with a way out through the lies." He is saying to just tell her the truth with no lies, which the truth im guessing is she wants to end the relationship. Since the feelings change so fast, she is afraid to tell him the truth, because she does not want things to change, she is feeling safe with what she has, even though she does not want that.So he says "Look in my eyes and blame no one." as in, do not tell white lies and blames to tell me what you want to say. Just tell me truthfully and straightforwardly. |

I write these reviews as i listen to the song so i get the full meaning behind them, but this one will be of a personal experience. Before christmas, maybe on this day of the year, my ex and my friend had a bad argument, and i stayed with my girlfriend while my other friend stayed with the one arguing. Well since they were at my house, i decided to leave her for a bit to talk over the argument with my other friend. She got angry at me for deciding to leave to them instead of getting in bed with her. Well i left anyways, and i ended up falling asleep downstairs with them. The next morning really early i wake up and get into bed, but she is very very angry at me, and leaves my house as soon as possible that day. I didnt mean to leave her all alone, or hanging on to me coming back soon enough. Christmas was not very good for me... But anyways thats how i take it, he didnt mean to leave the person hanging on for something that wasn't coming. |

I think it means that in his 36 hour drive, he has time to think about all that is happening, and he realizes that his relationship with that person really isnt what he wanted. "What you wish for won't come true.
Live with that." He realizes that his wish (for a perfect long relationship) will not come true, and his hopes for that "fall out from my hands back to the ground." The drive has allowed "The haze to clear from his eyes on a Sunday." And he is going to act on his thoughts soon enough. |

to me he just got over a relationship, and she is running down dirty stairs, which dirtied her dress. and he says that relationships go by too fast for you to sit back and make sense of it all, of all that happens in a relationship. and he doesnt know how he should feel about all this, so he is asking to be shown the light, as to how it all has been.
i love jew because i can relate to just about every song. if anyone has been in a good relationship, then had a hard breakup, every single song can be related to about something that happened, one way or another. this cd is truly great. |

I think this song is about a person he really cares for, and she takes pills and drinks. The fact that she is destroying herself just kills him, and thats why he cries at the end. Something must have happened like that to him, for him to sing it with such meaning. This is a truly great song. |

Man this song makes me so shaky, cause the exact same thing he sings about happened to me. Very little things you notice, like her hair, or her faint smell on your pillow, that brings back every memory you've had with that person to the fullest extent. This song is the best thing to do when im remembering events with this girl.
I prefer Dashboard without drums and bass, etc etc. This song with just acoustic is so much better than the MTV version. |

There is never a time that i can listen to this song without my having my emotions stirred. It just makes you think about a person you like, or are getting to know... just great. The whole part about ending a bad day to spend it with you... wow there is so much real emotion to all of his songs, you can relate to everything this guy says. And yea... Dashboard is the best concert ive ever been to, he sang about 14 songs, which the entire 500 people knew every word to, and after he left, everyone just stood there shouting "Dashboard!" over and over for about 5 minutes, then they came back out and played another 10 songs. Truly a great experience, he is great live. |
