He might be discussing the fact that many people live inside their "atomic garden" and never take the time to think outside of their box. He is saying that selfishness and ignorance is wrong. (just like the Bible). Although Christians don't practice it very well. But one can't let the people of any religon get in the way of what it truly teachs.

So my question is what is one's purpose? Money? A sound mind? Gain of knowlegde? Fighting conformity? Hating everyone who speaks about God? None of these will do. But the question remains...

I am sorry to regret that the part about the not thinking Christians has become quite aparent in churches today. These non-thoughtful Christians of today I admit run away to their Churches when they come up against an argument that attacks their beliefs. But these churches are not being biblical. Christians were once on the forfront of thought. Think of the major universities: Harvard, Oxford, Yale... All were began by Christians. And take for instance the greatest commandment in the Bible is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your MIND." So if one looks at Christianity one would think that they have no reasons for their faith. This is quite the contrary. They have many reasons even though they seem like "fools".

The values of justice and freedom were founded upon Christian values. Ever since then this country has moving towards Naturalism or the belief in no Creator, behaviorism, and only physical world. That is why this country's politics and such have been going down the drain. And if you get rid of God, then you have no logical basis for good and bad (values). There can be no such thing without God. And therefore if one gets rid of religon one should logically not try to improve anything because there would be no "better" or "good" one is trying to ahcieve.

He does not want to take the Naturalist worldveiw that says that he is a pile of chemicals like everyone else with no purpose in life (the resolt of the idea that there is no spiritual world only a physical world). He wants to blieve that there is meaning and he is unique. The Christian faith/worldview provides this.

Pretty up front. I am taking it literal. He met a girl when he was young, and didn't think much about her except that she had a joy that he did not have. Now the next part I am not sure of, either he left the location that she was in or the girl died. In either case, they separated leaving him inspired to be a "light" in the world.

"Head in a Cloud" This title discribes the song perfectly. The song shows a sence of not being able to see clearly (like being in a cloud). And becaouse of this he is stuggling with his faith, and beginning to feel the tug of the skeptics stance. But in the end he states that he will not give up the fight so easily.
