There was made a special version of it for the 9 firefighters that lost their lives in the Worcester Cold Storage fire back in... '99 I think. I know one of the families of the victims, the one whose voice is used in the special version... They are true heroes... |

Just a little lyrical correction to a great song...

...That's exactly the point of the song, I think. Well, at least a bit of it. I can relate to this perfectly, this is my personal song ;) I always try to pay attention to my "One" but after the phone call or whatever's over, I can't remember what she said... I pay attention to her so much, I just pay attentiopn to HER and the meaning of her words, not her words themselves. Then, I'm left guessing at what she meant and what she said, the "rain" inside my head. My words that I say always seem stupid and used and ineffective. I'm horrible with words, like children can be, and I resort to writing poems to her and some songs to better get my ideas and feelings across... Am I making any sense? |

I must agree that almost 100% of all kids can relate to this tryly amazing song. If you haven't done so already, check out the music video for it, it's GREAT! I can definitely relate to this song...
I must also agree with "TheLordsMessenger". God (and therefore, Jesus because I'm Catholic) has helped me to an unmentionable state... He's someone who will always listen... And will always be there...
Seek and you shall find...
Best of luck to you all. I read Surfy Chic's story... And all I can say is "I'm so sorry..." I'm sorry for such a terrible thing happening. Parents are what make the child. Parents aren't supposed to fuck you up. I think Roger Wilco's wrong in that respect. Parents are the core of what their children will be like. A child's outlook and being all depends upon the PARENTS. This is what Staind's getting at. If the parents are fucked up, most likely, the children will be. I know someone, the girl that I Love with all of my heart, who's got a broken family. She's incredibly strong... I can't give her enough credit for pulling by all the 'stuff' she lives with. If I could, I'd play this song for her parents... And I'm sure I'd be in tears... I Love her so much... This song reminds me so much of her.
Well that's my 2 cents worth, for what it's worth always.
Best of luck to Surfy Chic and all of us kids.
Godspeed. |

I think that the chorus goes:
Now you're stepping away from me
One foot at a time
Glad you're stepping away from me
Hope it's the last time
At any rate, this song is extrememly powerful, especially where the backup says "Cold and lonely".
It seems that the singer (relative of Lajon of Sevendust) is in a relationship that really meant something to him, but it seems that his signifigant other doesn't have the same feelings. He trys to say that he's not alone anymore, but he knows that he's "Cold and lonely" on the inside... We try so much as humans to cover what we feel inside that we can even fool ourselves... But eventually, the cover fails and we're exposed... The singer knows this, and he knows that he's really "Cold and lonely"... At least that's what I get from this.
Very powerful song... Stereomud kicks major ass!

...At any rate, a great song. Personally, I like the cover that Staind did of it.... Aaron Lewis has a simply amazing voice that's undeniable. Maynard is good, yes, but I like Lewis better... Still a good song... Definitely. |

A teriffic song by a now-dead metalcore band from Florida. This is a great song, period. It's about a love that the writer obviously loves. |
