This is so stupid. "Emo doesn't suck... blah blah blah..." Anti-Flag also write things like 'Anti-Flag sux' on their fans t-shirts if they get them to sign them.
This is what they say about this song on their site:
"We wrote a song called, "Indie sucks, hardline sucks, emo sucks, you suck!!!" but for the most part the song is a joke. We do have a problem with hard line kids who use their beliefs as an excuse to beat up people with different beliefs, but aside from that everything in the song is a joke! Actually, the song was intended to make fun of punk rock more than anything!"

We don't have Hot Topic here in Aus [or we do but they're not widespread] but we do have this shop. This evil, evil shop that sell midriff baring shirts w/ ties and tartan mini-mini skirts - for the punks, the stupid racist tops with the "enter race here do it better" slogan on them or pick-up lines on them and would charge $50 just for a shoelace. I hate this shop so much that I walk as far away as possible from it when walking past it and hold my breathe so that the evil doesn't get me. [Haha] They even have posters of girls in skimpy police uniforms - the fashion police. Lame or lame?
Nothing really to do with 'punk image' in that comment [^] but here to be a punk all you have to do is mis-match your socks, pull your jean shorts' crutch down to your knees, where a studded belt [what's the use of a belt if they pull their pants down anyway??] and a band t-shirt with a tie. |

How do people type like that? It took me about 10 minutes.
Anyway I'm a fan of Rancid myself so I'm not putting them down. But there's a radio station here where I live that plays soad, creed, blink and the like and that's what all the 'punks' listen to. I don't call myself punk because there's is all this controversy and I'm quiet and that's not 'punk.' Punk is being loud and running riot. In their eyes anyway. Look at Avril. The punkest thing since sliced bread. She runs riot in a shopping centre in her clip - which probably gets overplayed on MTV. Anyway there is my little rant for today. Bye. |

May I just say that how strange is it that this is supposed to be to discuss the meaning of the song and instead we discuss musical genres and stupid things like that.
I personally love music and this will sound sooo stupid and bag me all you want but why are we all fighting??? Ok I like emo, you don't, I consider 1 band emo, you don't etc. But dudes this is dumb; there's beautiful music being created ENJOY IT!!!!

This is a very sweet song that most people could relate to in a way, but probably not his/their best song. Chris' words are so simple but so beautiful.
I love the bit about jumping the gate because even though its a sweet song it reminds me of all the guys I know who think they are all macho........ that sound weird but I know what I mean. |

Chris Conley, (The 'fucking skinny blond british guy singing with the camera zoomed at his face while he spins and sings...') for one thing he's American, not British, 2nd it's more than spinning around a room. Look in the background, listen to the lyrics its a Goddamn beautiful song and 3rd, 'skinny,' well he has had problems with eating disorders and how can you judge a band by their appearance???
Ok, other than that little rage.... Bleed American is the 1st JEW song I heard and I fell in love instantly. I think the album has been changed to 'Jimmy Eat World' here(Australia) but I have Bleed American and I thought 'Bleed American' (the song) has been changed to 'Salt Sweat Sugar' everywhere, but it hasn't here and dosn't appear to have in America....???? It was changed because of 9/11 because it seemed a bit insensitive. |
