this song seems to be like a bitter sweet cry to ne one who is willing to listen * first rule of evaluating lyrics is to look for the speaker ***the speaker is not usually that singer*** this song is about pain and giving up on trival things mostly stupid negative relationships... while the main chorse is "sometimes the sun shines" which leads me to infer that the song is telling us to have hope. Perhaps this has to do with relationships perhaps not either way it is saying i will give up on things that hurt me and wait for things to get better |

i think it is about a guy whoses friend is on that awful tummbling spirial fo depression. He loves her. I think he called it iris becuase, iris can be a name, and to me the iris flower is exoict and diffrens, but with the way its lower petals droop it looks rather sad. The girl that the speaker is worring about it cutting, "When everything feels like the movies And you bleed just to know you're alive" "iris" feels like every thing is so dull and trivial so she cuts to feel alive and to deal with feeling left out. I think that this song is a cry for the singgers friend to know he cares |

i acctually disagree with all the notes so far posted. i think it is about self abuse not anerexa but more of a loving of pain and suffering ex cutting or obsessive compuslive, espically that become clear when u look at the lines In my head the flesh seems thicker Sandpaper tears corrode the filth And I need you now somehow And I need you now somehow to me it seems he is either talking about a friend or himself or both when he is saying corrode the film and th flesh seems thinker, like ur cutting and its thicker then u wish so to cut harder and he is on his knees to the power of addiction to pain |

This song is pretty deep besides the great beat and catchy lyrics. I agree with dashboard freak about how it is about a guy who gives up everything for this girl, but when the last couple of lines say: Mom and daddy's got the best cocaine Ritalin's never gonna feel the same twenty four hours on an empty brain I got my finger on the trigger and you're in my way He is saying he has nothing left to live for and he wants to go away he has lost a grip on life and drugs aren't helping him, even a drug that he normaly took, and he wants to pull the trigger but somthing is stopping him and that is the person he still loves |
