reading through the posts, i noticed WAY WAY WAY BACK in like January, some1 posted Serj said aerials was aobut nothing. It was daron there, and this song did make sense.. till i saw the video... Whats with the lil kid thing?? i know think (this is similar to what i did think) is that this is about how people get stuck into stuff and get exploited for it, like the kid is for being,well, a weird lookin kid to be straight forward. And this person or these people that are shot out into the world, don't like it when they are left out to dry. In the video, the kid lies down in a circus tent in the end, after being used by agents, companies, and other things for money. and in the end, after doing all of theses things (stated as aerials, aerials being tricks or deeds or something), he is nothing more than a circus side show. This is true to many things, ESPECIALLY musicians. The lyrics state free your eyes, eternal prize, is saying that once u are washed up, its actually a gift that u done with it all. And the part "we lost our selves, but we find it all?" pretty literal. The person has completely lost the old them for a superficial price, and now questions him doing it. The thing they play is them being famous and all, almost like a game, but they dont want to fail, only win this game. O ya, almost forgot. The pasrt about losing closed mind frees your life means once u get past all that bull shit, you are finnaly alive again, not a mndless drone stuck in the vicious cycle of our cannibalistic society!! (sorry about that tangent, its like 3 am and i cant sleep and im typing on and on.) The drinking of the water thing is this said person enjoying the fame or what ever he or she is receiving, but wants to "put up walls" to keep private. IN SHORT, Great song, nice lyrics, cool music. AND ITS BY SOAD (and onc the song goes mainstream.. there will br 500+ posts.. i hate mtv...) |

| I read that Climberboy, i agree. Except inthis song.. i dont thinks its about Science vs Religion. I think it is more about how "science has failed our world". Although science has made many great discoveries and even has contradicted with religion, it still fails to explain the purpose of things. And yes science is a tool. But as a tool, it can be misused, as a weapon. And this song is showing how we look at science AS a religion, when it really is not. | |

| this is OBVIOUSLY about drugs.. well.. besides the fact of it saying "Don't ever get stuck in the sky... When you're high".. it also makes references like "When your stars are BAKED (keyword there)" also.. the mermaids and castles and stuff are most like hallucinations from being high. | Well, I have to agree with you all. To tell you the truth, I never heard about an Armenian Genocide until this song. Once I heard this song, I didn't know what to say. I was caught up in the fact that I was so ignorant to this event. I don't know if it is my fault, but we are brought up in a society which tries to avoid this painful shit, and acts like it never happens, and wonders why it happens time and time again. Once I absorbed the song itself, I couldnt stop thinknig about it and listening to it. This is probably the greatest song I have heard in my lifetime (wow, a wwhole 15 years), and this song has actually changed what I think of this world and what I have been taught. (outta breathe) | |

| i belive the whole country thing.. it seems very logical since 9-11 wasn't too long before toxicity actually came out. The "child" to me sounds like a smaller, weaker country, given power by the U.S to gain independence and political power, and then when they finally have no use for the U.S, and have leeched off enough weapons.. they use it against us. Somewhat similar to this Taliban crap and how we support countries/organizations/cultures that really dont deserve anything from us, we just do it to look good (inhales deeply) that is all :) | |

| well.. SOAD said in an interview they had to cut like 15 songs for toxicity.. and then Serj joked how he didnt like any of the ones that actually made toxicity. I personally like all the songs that i believe were cut more than most of toxicity.. but thats just me.. this is a perfect example of a good one cut off. it obviously is pretty recent in recording.. since the sound has kidna changed from their album of 98 to 01... sounds a lil less... uh.... bass filled.. more guitar and bass lines than just solo's | |
